Dire Armadillos

The Gibo Outlands have produced many medical, religious, and geographical mysteries in the past years. It's existence in the middle of the continent puzzles scientists and mages. But the highlight of the mystery comes from the creatures that inhabit such a desolate and inhospitable place. Giant albino pill bugs that carry precious orbs within their bodies, man-hunting trees, and many other strange and frightening creatures.   One such creature, has risen to the top of the food chain, becoming apex among the beasts that call the bone-white badlands their home. The Dire Armadillo. The Dire Armadillo is a mighty thing, standing 7 feet tall at shoulder height, can roll into its armor plates and become a ball with a height of 9 feet or higher. All along the joints of the beast as well as one points of the armor platting are the classical bone protrusions, marking the Dire within them. They can envelope themselves in their armor plates, inches thick and nearly indestructible, and roll at incredibly high speeds, flattening their targets into oblivion.   The Dire itself remains a mystery and wonder in and of itself. Some theologists theorize that a god may be responsible for the mark's presences in so many animals in this area of the world. Dire beasts are not nearly as common on other continents such as Tal'Dorei and Wildemount. Some theorize that the god was something of a Lord of Beasts, uninterested in the conflicts in the Northern hemisphere, and spent their time wandering this region of the world. The Dire itself is thought of as the touch of the Beast Lord, whose alignment or presence has little recorded accounts. Others theorize that the desolate nature of the Gibo Outlands is the handiwork of the particular god, whose striding on the land drained it of its color and changed the animals into Dire versions of their counterparts.
