The Order of the Lantern

An Order of Knights dedicated to rooting out monsters that prey on the defenseless. They are among the least populous of the Orders, as their work is seen as dangerous and often quite unglamourous. in addition to Paladins, they boast a large number of Rangers and other experts in Monster-Hunting. They often lead expeditions into areas that have been overrun by dangerous creatures - when a settlement suddenly stops sending any trade or communication amid rumours of a monster attack, the government of the area will usually find themselves tentatively contacting the Order of the Lantern to investigate.
When not ranging out in larger numbers to destroy a great threat, Knights of the Order will often travel in small bands or even solo, finding whatever work they can as Investigators and Monster slayers. Despite their harsh reputation, their oaths and training constantly reaffirm that they are sacrificing their time, safety and lives to make the world a safer place, and they are often surprisingly reasonable when dealing with the commoners who suffer most from the dangers of the world, or the more sentient of their quarry who may be misblamed or misunderstood.
The official symbol of the Order of the Lantern, painted on shields and sewn into Tabards and Badges, is that of a Blazing Lantern on a Dark Field.
