The Moon Kingdom

In the expansive history of the world, there is one ancient kingdom that has been through great trials and tribulations, yet with the blessing of their Goddess, they have managed to not only survive, but thrive, and now are impacting the world far greater than they have ever imagined. The Moon Kingdom has a special place in the heart of the Moon Goddess, Selune. The royal family is directly descended from her as the Goddess of Creation's very flesh and blood with the rest of the kingdom holding such a reverence for her, that they call her not by her name, but something more familiar. The kingdom is home to a wide variety of races, but, the most common in the kingdom is the Wolffolk. The Wolffolk refer to their mother goddess as none other, than Mother.   The Kingdom, a large Island nation in the north sea, is over 12 thousand years old, and now is entering into a grand age of enlightenment, far ahead of the majority of the rest of the world. Through the efforts of their ancestor's hard work and efforts accumulating over the generations, the kingdom now is a trade empire that spans the whole northern hemisphere of the world, and continues to expand further out, having just acquired a major settlement in the southern hemisphere. With this new age of prosperity, major changes have been happening within the past 200 years: government programs, technological and magical advancements, increasing the standard of living within the kingdom, and a stronger global influence are some of the major examples. The Moon Kingdom now has become a sort of paradise that so many are seeking to get into.   It should come as no surprise that the kingdom isn't too keen on letting just anyone in, and memories of past issues with the rest of the world have not faded into history. The Moon Kingdom and its many people groups, especially Wolffolk, have a particular disdain for humans. Over the grand history, human kingdoms have often been the source of horrific wars and conflicts with the kingdom and its people. The heart island has been considered a great jewel, steeped in deep magic and a wealth of resources, and thus a prize to be taken. But time and time again, the Kingdom and it's people have resisted and driven back the invading forces. Such a long history of humans being the cause of the problem has routed deep contempt and even hatred for them from the Beastfolk that live on the island.   It is only within the past 400 years that human kingdoms and empires have begun to form alliances with the Moon Kingdom. Most relations are still tenuous at best, but the power held by the Moon Kingdom now has enough sway to make foreign entities think twice about enganging in conflict. At the center of it all is the heart of the Moon Kingdom, and the Royal Family. The age of advancement and prosperity continues forward, and the ambition of the royal family is about to take off far greater than before.
