Demons

Emerging for the first time at the dawn of the Unholy Crusades, demons are the embodiment of the abyssal plane, chaos incarnate.
Factions of the Abyss
Most demons do bear allegiance to a certain faction, most commonly the one they were born into. Each of these factions are represented by one of the Infernal Behemoths, which impart the essence of their power unto the demons born within. The Infernal Behemoths are as follows:
  In the Tangled Rift:
Warp-fiend Leviathan - A humongous chitinous whale-like behemoth infused with translocation magic, allowing it to levitate and teleport. It is known to be capable of submerging itself in the great seas of the tangled rift, keeping its denizens alive and (for all intents and purposes) dry. In combat, it alone doesn't have much offensive capacity, instead acting more as a gunship, with engineered abyssal cannons embedded into its body, manned by the demons inside
The demons of 'Warp-fiend Leviathan' share in it's bounty of teleportation magic, using it to spring ambushes and raids upon their unsuspecting enemies, flanking and blinking around to gain the upper hand in battle. They also have an affinity for the water, and will use it to their advantage whenever possible.   Chaos-bolt Hydra - This formless mass of serpentine heads is capable of potent magic, it combines chaotic bursts of elemental energy with powerful bites to tear down walls of flesh and crush even the strongest chitin. This behemoth is capable of levitation, and is used as a flying fortress to drop troops and cast rays of magic onto their foes.
The demons of 'Chaos-bolt Hydra' are gifted with sorcerous magic, able to cast destructive waves of energy in suitably uncontrollable packages. The strongest spellcasters among them are some of the most feared demons in all the abyss, hurling down flaming meteors, quaking tremors that tear open the ground, fountains of corrosive acid and waves of electrifying energy.   In the Heavens of Gore:
Cardinal-fleet Tiamat - Believed to be the ancient ancestor of drakonids, this four winged, arachnoid behemoth is capable of exhaling gigantic gouts of flame, incinerating foes and launching itself into the air at high speeds. It is used commonly as a ginormous ambush beast, perching atop the great peaks of the heavens of gore, swooping down upon an enemy and burning them to ash.
Many demons of 'Cardinal-fleet Tiamat' are infused, through a painful, lengthy ritual, with the ancestral draconic traits of their behemoth, giving them wings, long tails, and fire breath capable of incinerating foes. All others of their kin, however, simply have a specially distinct affinity for fire, above that of most other demons.   Siege-titan Colossus - The largest of the behemoths, this gargantuan, bipedal, vaguely gorilla-esque monster is a mighty force to be reckoned with; not only can it punch and slam foes with its immense physical power, it is also blessed with holy magic, capable of summoning radiant thunderbolts to smite down anything that stands in its way, throwing them like javelins, or striking down with them like a stake.
The demons of 'Siege-titan Colossus' share in its radiant power, infused with holy lightning; they pray to their behemoth like a god, and are in turn given holy power, innate lightning abilities and healing magic.   In the Umbral Wastes:
Bone-horde Dullahan - This vaguely humanoid, lithe behemoth has massive bone blades and spikes protruding from their greyish purple skin; their head almost looks like it has exploded from the inside out. It utilises two colossal spinal columns that protrude from its wrists like a pair of whips, and uses its bone protrusions to nimbly block and deflect attacks.
The demons of 'Bone-horde Dullahan' have similar bladed bone growths, which they use as both armour and weaponry. There is an unusual amount of regimented training among these demons, making them some of the most elite melee fighters in the demonic ranks.   Dread-maw Naga - A uniquely small behemoth, this plated, snake-like creature has the outstanding ability of an 'active camouflage', allowing it to functionally turn invisible, especially when moving slowly; it utilises this ability in tandem with its incredible bite strength, sneaking up on its enemies undetected, lunging out at them and crushing them in its massive jaws. Often employed in ambush hit and run maneuvers, as its smaller size makes it inadequate for sustained combat; however, no other behemoth can match its instantaneous lethality.
The demons of 'Dread-maw Naga' have similar camouflage abilities, capable of expertly hiding and skulking in the shadows, striking nimbly and quickly to take down their unknowing opponents.
Species of Demons
Contrary to some beliefs, demons are categorised by species, as they do reproduce and evolve in the same way as Tellurian creatures. Their rate of genetic mutation is vastly superior to any creature on Tellus, leading to significant differences from specimen to specimen. Some of the categorised species are as follows:   Lepikrin: Evolved from moths, Lepikrin have the natural capacity to charm and enthrall others.   Chariot Beetles: Evolved from beetles, Chariot Beetles are big, bulky and mean.   Scolopirians: Evolved from, and closely resembling centipedes, Scolopirians innately carry immense divine power, leading to them being revered by most demon-kind.   Aranementa: Evolved from spiders, Aranementa have a special affinity with fire, capable of igniting themselves with flames that burn hot enough to melt iron.   Fool's Kings: Evolved from, and almost entirely resembling mantids, Fool's Kings are a species of tiny, yet potent demons with a sense of nobility and honor unlike that of most demons, owing to their lordly visage.
They (also known as rex minima) are seen by many demons as deceitful, their mantid appearance viewed as a deliberate ploy to trick others into respecting them above their deserved station. Despite how demon society views them, they mostly remain noble and humble, not revealing the surprising strength of their tiny bodies, until pushed to do so.   Ankhin: Evolved from earwigs, Ankhin are excellent trackers and hunters, used in a similar vein to bloodhounds.   Maluu: Evolved from dragonflies, Maluu are believed to be distant relatives of actual dragons, though their power is vastly diminished if that is so.   Oryctes: Evolved from beetles, Oryctes are fortresses, built from chitin and pure, abyssal power. They are capable of levitating due to a uniquely adapted pair of glands. These glands create a liquid so suffused with abyssal energy that it allows the Oryctes to float on air, despite their huge size and weight.
Oryctes are divided into three distinct sub-species; Imperator, which act as battlefield commanders and strategists; Sacramentum, guardians and defensive specialists; Impetus, heavy artillery and offensive harassers.
