Blightstone

Scientists, scholars, wizards and alchemists alike have long tried to understand blightstone from a scientific perspective, but its properties, behaviour and abilities continue to evade any logic or reason, only to be categorised as a 'miracle material'; grind it into dust and it'll work like gunpowder, place it in a forge and it'll turn hard as diamond, put it on the end of a stick and it'll be a spellcasting focus, you name it, blightstone can probably do it.
Favored by the vermlings in their vast underhives, its use was initially discovered by Skave, the Scribe of Pestilence and is said to be what allowed him to reach deity-hood, though through what exact means is unclear.
Blightstone is a naturally occurring mineral, though the exact conditions that determine its formation is, as most things about it, unclear. However, through a piece of technology called a 'Blightstone Reactor', its formation can be vastly expedited and controlled.
