Polistead

May my willpower be one with my armor. May my wisdom be one with my shield. May my fury be one with my hammer. May my luck be one with my firearm. May my carnage be one with my ammunition.
- Excerpt from an Arbites' oath.
Polistead is the most populous nation-state in the entirety of Pharosim. It is comprised of seven sectors, each containing no more than seven million citizens. The nation is not usually considered to be a country, but rather a massive unified city-state. Polistead has virtually no rural areas, and is known for being a kind of "concrete jungle" to navigate. While the nation is not usually considered as comparable to other political powers and states, the unitary city-state is still a massive political player on the worldwide scale. They are considered the second most powerful nation on the world of Pharosim, after the Magistratum and before the Undastrata.

History

Humans were the original settlers of the Vancian Peninsula around C-485.000, oftentimes settling there for the beauty of the location, with the natural wonder of the Gateway to Heaven being the center of such settlements. It was not until C-497.755:40, around twelve-thousand years later, that the city known as Polistead Porima was established around the natural wonder. When founded, Polistead Porima had no more than roughly thirty thousand people in its city limits. However, it was not until C-497:797:152 that the city skyrocketed to its level of population that it has today. That day is marked in Polisteadian calendars as a national holiday called the Freedom and Flowers Festival. C-497:999:152 was the day where all religious persecution and discrimination was outlawed in the city, and the people celebrated by planting flowers all around the Gateway to Heaven.
