Personal history

Yani is the illegitimate child of the Lord of House Prixus. Her mother had believed that Yani’s birth would have forced the Noble Family to bring her into the fold, but instead Yani’s father was convinced to distance himself from them, largely due to her mother’s conniving, usurious nature, sending a stipend to support Yani’s upbringing. Yani’s mother blamed Yani for ruining her chances to become a noble, constantly undermining and criticizing her for anything she attempts. Her mother also refused to give Yani a last name, partly hoping that House Prixus would cave and recognize her as a legitimate heir eventually. Meanwhile, Yani’s mother used the stipend on herself to live as if she were a noble, using as little as possible to meet Yani’s needs. As a result she grew up isolated and believing she was responsible for all the problems in her own life as well as the people around her. Unknown to Yani, nobles of House Prixus conspired to have her removed when she came to adulthood, hiring slavers to abduct her, causing her to spend her early adulthood in slavery in Angara and Solaris. After being sold to a Gezakti smuggling crew she was freed by Tholm’s crew and has remained with them since.

Education

Although Yani's mother was provided with a stipend from House von Prixus for educational purposes, Yani was sent to the Temple of Ishtar for a free education. The Temple taught her the basics of Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic, but her mother opted out of lessons in morality and religious practices.
