The Lost Kingdoms

You hail from a small region of a largely unknown world. The land is characterized by tiny kingdoms made up of petty lords ruling independently and calling themselves kings in the absence of a larger, centralized authority. The Hyperborean Empire, once ruling these lands with an iron fist has largely disappeared over the centuries, returning to their home across the sea. You live in the Kingdom of Stonehall, consisting of the walled town of Stonehall and perhaps a dozen or so small towns, villages, and hamlets all owing their fealty to King Uwen of Stonehall. King Uwen is constantly in conflict with his neighbors, the Kings of Vexthain and Gor, also petty kings or, in the case of Gor, nothing more than an assemblage of bandit lords. The Hyperboreans, once overlords of many lands, have largely shrunk away, leaving just pockets of the region under their control. The ancient Hyperborean city of Idruz, mostly in ruins but still the home of the remaining Hyperboreans and their slaves, is just a few days journey from Stonehall by horse.
