The Heart family clan
The Heart Family Clan is a a large family of nobles residing in Canterlot. They are one of the richer noble families, and also are more secluded, with many of them living in Heart Manor, a massive complex overlooking Canterlot Mountain's eastern face, away from the city.
The Hearts' are an Old Money family, and would've been able to sustain themselves through investments and a smattering of businesses like the other noble houses if it weren't for one thing, their habit of extreme adoption and declaring individuals as honourary members of the family, regardless of social status. Due to this, they must fund themselves through risky archaeological ventures, and the auctioning of uncovered artifacts. Steeped in magical and pseudo-military tradition, they also offer their services as "heroes for hire", or specialist consulting work for magical research projects.
The Heart Family is not a popular one among the nobility, having a reputation for eccentricity and being much too inviting to lower class and non-pony creatures. The Bloodbloods in particular have gone as far as to call them "A menagerie of mutants, madmen, and mercenaries dressed up in suits and robes!" Rumours of sexual deviancy, closed door rituals, interference in international conflicts, and incest don't help matters.
The Heart Family's true purpose is to be Celestia's defensive agency, research group, and covert operations organization for all things related to infusion and divine magic. They are a safe haven for infused across the world. The rumours about them are sometimes true, but often are the fabrications of the other noble houses, or the fumblings of new infused who are un-adjusted to life among the nobility. The Family is also the largest body of divine magic knowledge, a training ground for Infused to discover their powers, a spy network to keep knowledge of exotic magic out of the public eye, and a first line of defence against the possible emergence of a new godlike being. The Heart Family has about 100 members, but its nuclear family has only 5. Patriarch Arcane Denial, his wife Castleheart, and their three children, Cinderheart, Shadowheart, and Spectral Song. When they are not living in Heart Manor, they own a smaller house with little surrounding land in the city proper.
The Heart Family are currently unaware of the Cult of the Jade Eye, but they do know that something is amiss. Small groups around the world attempt to seize local power, and a disturbing number of them specialize in ancient history, exotic magic, or both. When they fail or are stopped by the Hearts, the bulk of their research is never recovered for some reason or another. Even more worrying, some of the groups are proto-cults, obeying powerful infused not connected to the Heart Family. The Heart Family is currently doing everything they can to predict where these violent groups appear next, and to protect and recruit Infused before the groups do, as well as searching for the common thread linking them. They have no leads.

Structure
The Heart Family Clan is a family in more than name.
The nuclear family is the public face in Canterlot of the Clan. Arcane Denial and his wife Castleheart are the nobles who manage the familial side of the Clan as well as their public duties as nobleponies. Arcane Denial is the Patriarch and is the leader of the entire family. Roles in the Heart Family are meritocratic. Most members refer to each other either by name, or as cousins. Occasionally brother or sister. Researchers mostly stay at the Manor, and conduct experiments and analysis on artifacts retrieved on adventures, as well as work on learning more about infusion.Remove these ads.
