The Living Planet

Humanity is extinct. After thousands of years of wars, pollution and corruption, the era of man is finally over. This gave way to the safe evolution of most animals and plants, as well as to new mighty creatures to rule over the now wild planet. Many rose up to the challenge of taking over the world. Demons. Faeries. Yokai. But one mostly peaceful species would take the spotlight. A species not only strong enough to fend for themselves, but also capable of healing all of the planet's still open wounds. The Kodama are tree sprites, protectors of nature. Their main purpose is to bring balance to the planet by planting new trees, taking care of animals and plants, cleaning polluted areas among other important tasks. The main thing with Kodama is: they don't hate the humans. Instead of feeding a toxic feeling of hatred, they chose to respect their culture and learn from it, as a means to understand their predecessors while not repeating their mistakes. Even though the peaceful Kodama now tend to the newly named Living Planet as a kind of "dominant species", some of the more powerful members of the other races and tribes, such as the noble Tengu or the cruel Nekomata, still fight for territory, power and dominance, making some areas even more dangerous than they were when the humans used to rule.
