Vechia is the third-largest continent on the planet, behind Valadia and Prospera. It is located just above Valadia, the only other continent that it has close communication and trade with.

Geography

Countries & Nations

There are seven major nations located in Vehasi. These are Reuni, Khastoro, and New Vransi in the northern area of the continent, and Vechia, Mestrania, Dostros, and Eclania in the southern area. Two of these nations, Eclania and Mestrania, are currently at war with one another.

Reuni

Reuni is the largest empire in Vehasi, with both the most land area as well as the largest land-base millitary. It has two major territories, as well as one minor territory. These major territories are those of Central Reuni and Vorogo to the north, with the minor territory being Vransia to the west, at the base of the Vransian Mountains. The nation was formerly an expansionist and millitarist one, though the first of these traits have died down as they've hit a wall with their two bordering nations in the north.

Khastoro

Khastoro is an elven-ruled nation, located on the Khastoran Peninsula. The majority of its land is covered in forests, with cities built in and around clusters of giant trees. The armies of Khastoro are skilled in defensive warfare, capable of stalking through the trees and catching any attacker unawares. The nation is ruled by Morvel the King, an elven leader around since before the God War. However, the majority of the population are non-elves, with halflings, gnomes, and other species forming its majority instead.

New Vransi

New Vransi is a primarily dwarven nation located in the north-west area of the continent. Bordered by the Auren Ocean, the Vransian Mountains, River of Asowell, and the Imiteri River, the country holds a very defensible position, able to easily fend off any attacking forces. New Vransi has good relations with Dostros, though there are tensions between them and Reuni, as the latter has attempted to invade New Vransi on multiple occasions. While these attempts have slowed to a stop, there is still a general wariness among the Vransian people.

Vechia

Vechia is the primary trade power in the continent. They have trade alliances with nearly every other nation in the continent, and hold a lot of sway over the actions of the other nations. They are fairly protected from naval attacks by the Solorim Mountains to their eastern shore, and the River Adroch, River Astrach, and the River of Verun allow for easy transportation and trade. The capital city of Vechia, Solimé, is also considered the educational capital of the continent, home to the prestigious University of Solimé.

Dostros

Dostros is the northernmost nation of southern Vehasi. It is made of primarily forested land, and its territory was cut nearly in half during the God War, greatly reducing its size. It controlls one of two land-based routes to the northern area of the continent, known as the Dostran Pass. The other, located in Vechia, is the Vechian Pass. Dostros has alliances with New Vransi and Eclania, and is known for its guerilla tactics and small but powerful army. Its navy is quite sizeable as well, due to the amount of water borders the nation has.

Eclania

Eclania is a theocracy located just south of Dostros. They worship Khisteus, god of the weather, with emphasis on flame and fire. Eclania was formerly a part of the larger nation of Hadthos, before a succession crisis caused it to split into two nations, those of Eclania and Mestrania. The two nations still feel as though they each have a claim to the other's land and people, and are currently at war. Eclania is receiving support primarily from Dostros, and is also aided in Vechia's refusal to trade with either parties involved in the war - a decision that has impacted Mestrania more.

Mestrania

Mestrania is the southernmost nation of Vehasi, almost entirely bordered by water. Their two land borders are shared with Vechia and Eclania, the latter of which they are currently at war with. Recently, trade sanctions from Vechia have begun to impact them, as they now must travel to Reuni to obtain needed goods. Their navy is incredibly strong, due to their proximity to water. Located in the north of Mestrania are the Onyx Mountains, artifically-created mountains of mysterious origin.

Major Locations

Great Scar

The Great Scar is a large, deep canyon bisecting the continent of Vechia. It goes through the border of Reuni, Dostros, and Vechia, and is a great many Cynidors across. It cuts off much land traven between the northern and southern areas of the continent, with only two small land passes on either side of it. Travel between the two halves of the continent still occur, through these passes as well as through water or magical travel, but there is largely a cultural split between the two portions of the continent because of this.
There are some cities that are located within the walls of this canyon. The two most prominent such cities are Myntera, in Vechia, and Petralis, in Dostros. Cities and villages located within the walls of the Great Scar are often mining settlements, digging deep to find normally well-buried materials that would not be possible to find nearer to the surface. These cities are particularly popular among dwarves, especially those who worship the patron deity of dwarves and minerals, Conzotl.

Minor Locations

Northern Vehasi

Northern Vehasi is the region of Vehasi located above the Great Scar. It is home to New Vransi, Khastoro, and Reuni. The northern areas of the continent receive much colder winters than the rest of the continent, with the northern tips of Reuni and New Vransi being near perpetually covered in a layer of ice and snow. The region is that of forests, foothills, and mountains, with the land becoming colder and closer to tundra as one travels further north.
Vransian Mountains
The Vransian Mountains mark the southeastern border of New Vransi and Reuni. They are shorter, yet form a much wider mountain range, making traversal across them difficult even for skilled hikers.
Reunic Foothills
The Reunic Foothills span the entirety of the southern area of Reuni. They are as their name suggests: small, rolling hills running from the Vransian Mountains nearly all the way to the eastern Reunic coast.
River of Asowell
Named after a now-ruined city that once existed where the Great Scar now sits, the River of Asowell is one that runs from the Vransian Mountains to the western coast. It separates New Vransi from Dostros, with its source close to the edge of the Scar.
Imiteri River
The Imiteri River runs northwest from the Vransian Mountains, forming the northwestern border of New Vransi. Named after the now mostly eroded island in its centre, the river is the primary route of travel across New Vransi.
Vransian Forests
The Vransian Forests coat the lower-altitude areas of the Vransian Mountains. They are home to a few villages as well as tribal communities, and some cities are located within cleared plots of land.
Khastoran Forests
The Khastoran Forests are the trees, forests, and clearing scattered across and around Khastoro's land. They are known for their remarkably large trees, as well as the elven cities built in and amongst them.
Lake Ekhranos
Lake Ekhranos is the large body of water separating most of Khastoro from the rest of the continent. The lake flows into a river of the same name, which shortly deposits into the sea. The Khastoran shores of this lake are inhabited by some aquatic elves, who make their homes on coastlines or just below the water's surface. This lake also has one of the liveliest fish populations, making it a popular location for Reunic fishermen to sail on and make their livings.

Southern Vehasi

Southern Vehasi refers to the area south of the Great Scar. Located within it are the nations of Vechia, Eclania, Mestrania, and Dostros. There are multiple rivers and lakes within the region, as well as two mountain ranges: the Solorim Mountains on the eastern side of the continent, and the Onyx Mountains to the south. The weather in the area tends to consist of hot, dry summers and cool, rainy winters.
Solorim Mountains
The Solorim Mountains are located to the eastern coast of the continent. They form Vechia's east borders, and are full of natural and magical materials.
Onyx Mountains
The Onyx Mountains are an artifical mountain range created by a construct known as Onyx. His reasons for creating this mountain range is unknown.
River of Verun
The River of Verun runs through most of Dostros' southern border. It is named for the larger nation once thriving there, Del'Verun.
River Astrach
The River Astrach is the northern of two west-flowing rivers within the borders of Vechia. It aids to facilitate much of the nation's trade.
Lake Astrach
The Lake Astrach is the lake at the source of the River Astrach. It is located at the heart of Vechia, its capital of Solimé located on the shore.
River Adroch
The River Adroch is the southern of the two west-flowing rivers, forming part of Vechia's borders with the nation of Mestrania.
Lake Adroch
Lake Adroch is the lake at the source of the River Adroch. It is the larger and slightly saltier twin of Lake Astrach.
Dostran Pass
The mountanous Dostran Pass facilitates travel and trade between the northern and southern areas, mostly between Dostros and New Vransi.
Vechian Pass
The well-guarded and monitored Vechian Pass allows for travel and trade between the north and south - though primarily Vechia and Reuni.
Isle of Myrefell
This forested island just off the coast of Vechia is home to the city of Myrefell.
Isle of Sardonin
Located off the coast of Vechia, this island is home to the city of Sardonin.
