Caellach Ashgrove

Caellach Ashgrove is member of House Vyshaan, a reclusive house of wood elves that resides deep within a hidden grove found deep within the forest domain they lord over.   The Vyshaan are said to live underground, building their homes in a series of ancient barrow dens which tunnel deep under the Ashgrove, named after the grey birch trees which make up the surrounding woods. The Vyshaani are a proud elven house made up of monster hunters and beastmasters. To gain acceptance amongst their people, each warrior eventually departs from their clan to find and bond with an animal companion as part of a special rite of passage. With these creatures at their side, they protect their land from monsters and other aberrations, using the hide and bones harvested from their prey to craft new weapons and equipment to outfit their clan.   After completed his rite of passage, Caellach return to his people with his new companion: an intelligent giant owl by the name of Fox-at-Twilight, or simply "Fox" as the bird prefers to be called. Upon his return he was greeted by the Vyshaani with a celebration in his honor. A banquet was prepared, made up of the flesh of a great serpent the clan had slain the day before, and whose skull now adorned their feast chamber as a trophy. In the night, while the warriors of House Vyshaan were still asleep deep in their secret ancestral home, the bones of serpent began to stir. The creature the Vyshaani had killed was no mere snake, but was instead a malevolent spirit naga, a powerful and immortal entity that had both terrifying powers and the will to do harm against those who had spited it. Ningishzida was the serpent's name, and it had allowed itself to be killed and consumed by the elves so that they might carry its remains with them to their place of hiding. When it fully awoke, it slaughtered and devoured all those remained within the Ashgrove, and would eventually claim the home of the Vyshaani as its new lair.   Caellach as well as the others who survived made their way to a new home, located far away from the far reaching sight of the naga's magic. Many of the survivor's of the Vyshaani have forsaken their ancestral home; but Caellach and Fox, being a stubborn and determined pair, instead set out on a quest to learn of a way to defeat the immortal Ningishzida.

Hero of Tian-xin

Caellach's travels across Latria eventually took him to the city of Greenfields within the land of Tian-xin, a land steeped in mysticism and bamboo forests, and home to the Tianese people. During this time the Emperor of Tian-xin had sent his warrior in search of able bodied adventurers to aid him with a problem with plagued their lands. The nearby city of Cradle had been overrun by mysterious enemy soldiers who fought alongside monsters; and rewards were to be given to any who could aid with this situation. Caellach offered to lend a hand, aiming to eventually gain a favor from the Emperor of Tian-xin himself whom he hoped could aid in his own quest.   Caellach fought alongside many allies, including a new friend name Einar, a gentle yet fierce horned giant. With their strength combined they were able to save Tian-xin from the brink of destruction, nearly brought about when an evil sorcerer by the name of Akechi successfully performed a dark ritual to transform into a powerful Oni. Akechi's defeat brought a swift end to his demonic and undead allies, freeing the land from their oppression. Caellach and Einar were celebrated as heroes, with parades being held in their honour and songs being written about their actions. Caellach and Fox walked away from the limelight, eventually wandering away from the land Tian-xin without having gained any new insight about how to defeat their immortal nemesis. What they gained instead was a bond of friendship more powerful than any enemy that laid before him.
