Agrias

Personal history

Agrias is the name of a devil that manifested in the Prime Material Plane, taking place when Asher Crane intruded upon a clandestine summoning ritual in an abandoned wind mill. Agrias is a distinctly humanoid entity, and carries with her a chilling aura of ambiguous threat and terror. Upon her summoning she was immediately hostile, killing all those who witnessed her arrival and nearly killing Asher, were it not for a binding spell he'd cast upon her which used her true name. Despite being bound by this spell, Agrias convinced Asher into creating a covenant with her, which granted him use of her abilities under the agreement that Asher would one day meet the esoteric goal of "returning her wings"; these would become the terms specified in his contract with her.   Agrias has become bonded to Asher, using him as an anchor by which she can infiltrate the material world, which has affected Asher in a number of different ways, although most of them negative. By unknown means she has managed to invade Asher's dreams, as well as corrupted the use of his conjuration spells, which are now tied directly to the plane of limbo in which Agrias resides.   After years of being forced to reluctantly forced to use Agrias to protect his own life, Asher was able to successfully summon Agrias's wings. This came at the cost of using a profane spell which acted as a secondary contract in service to Agrias, this time weighed directly by the large quantity of Asher's blood used in the spell.   Since that time, Asher started to lose control of Agrias as her powers continued to grow. In fear of her new strength and influence Asher crafted a talisman, using his own blood to create an inscription of Agrias' true name and placing it upon his family's heirloom bow. The result was covenant similar to those shared between warlocks and their otherworldly patrons, allowing Asher to keep Agrias at bay and perhaps buy him more time to find a way out of this new contract.   Supposedly, Agrias has found her own way onto the Prime Material Plane by use of a physical portal located somewhere in the country of Andora, although this has yet to be confirmed.

Physical Description

Identifying Characteristics

Agrias is a type of devil known as an Erinyes. The Erinyes were formerly Angels that had been captured and taken to hell, their souls were impaled on splinters of brimstone and tortured over centuries, corrupting the angel into a hateful entity. Agrias manifests herself in such a fashion as to appear as the dark counterpart of an angel: with pale unnatural skin and surrounded by midnight black wings. Instead of a halo, Agrias wears a golden headdress in the style of a gilded ornamental avian skull topped with bright red feathers. At no point has Agrias' eyes ever been visible underneath, and yet yer stare gives the impression of being able to see directly to your soul.   Like the angels captured by artists in painting, Agrias appears as the idyllic woman, although she is tall even for an average man. Despite that her build wouldn't suggest how capable she is at fighting. She is often surrounded by an eerie colourless fog that invades the space she occupies.   A strange quirk of Agrias is her need to wear large amounts of golden jewelry and other cosmetics. She is covered head-to-toe in tattoos depicting infernal glyph and other black and white geometric shapes of unknown origin, almost tribal in appearance. Her wings, movements, hair and even the fabrics of her clothing seem to defy gravity, moving in an eerie fashion as if floating in an invisible volume of liquid.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

As an aspect of envy, Agrias spent an eternity loathing winged devils for their ability to fly. She believes herself to have at one point been an angel many centuries ago, one who who had her wings torn from her. With this origin in mind she acts with extreme vanity, believing herself superior to all others and gilding herself in fashionable clothing and jewelry to give herself an air of deific supremacy. She is defined by the hatred she feels towards those who believe they can subjugate her, and is personally threatened by anyone who discovers her true name.   Being a devil, Agrias gains power through the collection of noble souls that have been tainted and corrupted by evil deeds. In particular, she is drawn to individuals who exhibit neuroses similar to her own: mortal individuals who embody the sin of envy.   Like all devils and similarly to other extraplanar entities, Agrias seeks a stable anchor to the Prime Material Plane in order to remain there.

Virtues & Personality perks

Agrias is proud of her martial ability, and has mastered the use of many bladed armaments, but particularly in the use of pole-arms and missile weapons.   Despite being a devil that is defined by her loathing of others and self conceitedness, Agrias has seemingly on rare occasion acted out of concern for the summoner Asher Crane.
