Racer-X

Doug Freeman

Racer-X is the young, capable sidekick to Velocity II. A street kid who did things he wasn't proud of in the past, he has left the life behind after the Rebirth, where like his mentor he gained superhuman speed. Since then, he's been adopted by the Lane family, and now works as a superhero.

Physical Description

Special abilities

Racer-X has superhuman speed, which taps into the nature of time itself. It's unclear what his top speed is and how he compares to Velocity, as he's still learning, but he is fast.   Superhuman Speed: Racer-X can run at blistering speeds, breaking mach-5 as his record, but mainly sticks to speed of sound in most cases.   Superhuman Reflexes: His body is in perfect sync with his mind, and he has the coordination needed to maintain balance at all times.   Healing Factor: His super speed grants him vastly accelerated healing, able to heal himself from injuries far faster than a normal human.   Electrokinesis: Velocity can channel electricity from the friction around him, and use it as a weapon.   Aerokinesis: Velocity can use his speed to manipulate the wind around him.

Personal history

Doug Freeman was born to a low-income family in Austin, Texas. His dad was an alcoholic who, in his own words, "terrorized" the family. Doug ran away from home one day, and never looked back. As a kid, he'd do what he had to in order to survive, even if meant stealing things he wasn't supposed to. It's not something he's proud of, and wishes to move past that.   When the Rebirth happened, Doug gained the powers of superhuman speed, though it didn't manifest itself right away. He saw the rise of other superheroes within his area, while at the same time it became much harder for him with the increasing rise of powered supervillains. Doug's realized his powers when he was forced to run for his life, and escaped.   He sought out Velocity, the Paragon of Austin, to help him with his issues. The two bonded over their shared power, and it didn't take long for Doug to become his sidekick as Racer-X. Now the two fight side-by-side, and Doug was even adopted into the Lane family, giving him the caring family he never had.
