Poltergeist is the name of a corporate saboteur who works freelance across the world. She's young, but no less dangerous for it, and has no loyalties to anyone other than those who pay her money. The reality to her is that she doesn't think there's any other way to survive, not after the incident.

Special abilities

Poltergeist is like a ghost, with her genetic structure being rewritten as such. She only has two real powers, and one useful way of detecting people, and as such she fights using her tools and training as much as her abilities, often by evading, confusing and using indirect methods.
Invisibility: Poltergeist can become invisible to the naked eye.
Intangibility: Poltergeist can phase through solid objects.
Enhanced Senses: Poltergeist can sense disturbances around her through the air.
Advanced Hand-to-Hand Combat: Poltergeist has spent many years in intense training and can easily fight in conjunction with powers.

Specialized Equipment

Poltergeist Suit: A special all-concealing gray suit that helps her remain stable and control her powers. The helmet comes with a special computer mode, infra-red and X-ray vision. It also allows her to make other objects invisible and intangible and it masks her footsteps to near total silence.
Suppressed SMG: Her special weapon is a suppressed Uzi.
Explosives: Poltergeist carries explosives for detonating objects or for offensive purposes.
Hacking Device: A device on her wrist that allows her to hack into computer systems and electronic devices, as is befitting of a saboteur.

Personal history

Before becoming the Poltergeist, Dawn Cuervo grew up in Cuba, a country that has a strict ban on superheroes and uses any superhuman for military service. Her father Hector was a scientist who worked on a secret experiment for the Cuban government. The goal was to stabilize otherworldly energy into a form that could be controlled. Hector would be gone a lot, running his experiments, and leaving Dawn alone with her mother Charo. Unbeknownst to her, Hector's experiments were not for good intentions.
One night Hector returned home on the run from several hitmen out for his research. He carried a device that they wanted. He had Dawn hide in their basement, just when the assassins came for him. Then an explosion occurred, as the otherworldly energy eviscerated everything in its path. Dawn was covered just enough not to be killed by it, but the energy then fused with her DNA, causing her molecules to adopt a ghost-like property.
As a child, the Cuban government trained her to fight, use weapons, and put her in a special stabilizing suit. She spent the next five years as an operative, and she was only in her teens. One day, she hit the realization that her abilities are better used elsewhere for more profitable purposes, and abandoned Cuba.
Taking on the name of the Poltergeist, Dawn now works as an international corporate saboteur, loyal to the ones who pay her most.
