Special abilities

Superhuman Strength: Black Wasp can lift in excess of 10 tons.
Superhuman Agility: Black Wasp is extremely nimble, more than the finest human athlete.
Superhuman Durability: Black Wasp can endure greater punishment that normal, though not invulnerable.
Wall-Crawling: Black Wasp can stick to walls and move alongside them.
Bio-Electricity Generation: Black Wasp can generate electricity around her body, to use as a weapon and power source.

Specialized Equipment

Synthetic Wings: Black Wasp uses synthetic wings that she powers using her bio-electricity, which she developed out of salvaged parts. These wings enable her to fly, for she cannot innately take flight without them.

Personal history

Mia Martin was born in Sydney, Australia. Her dad Aaron was an entrepreneur who was trying to elevate the family's status. When his salvaging company in Australia was shut down, he took to the United States to start over, moving the whole family with him. He wanted to get wealthy salvaging damage from superhero battles, that happen so much more frequently in the United States than Australia.
After moving around several places from Texas, Colorado, Illinois and North Carolina, they eventually settled in New York. Then 14-year-old Mia didn't like the move at all, but her dad always said they'll be happy when it all pays off. While the company was off to a good start, it didn't last. Aaron was ultimately killed in an accident when taking care of an unknown alien material, which exploded.
Mia was left without a dad, and in a country far from home. She shut herself from the outside world, but soon found herself in it. When Mia stumbled across a mutagen left over from the salvaging, she began developing wasp-like powers. Deciding that she would be better off taking her anger on bad guys than shutting herself away, Mia became the superhero Black Wasp.
She learned that it was better protect than to vent anger on bad people, and thus mellowed, becoming a more focused superhero.
