Shooting Star Division
The Shooting Star Division [Дивизион Падающих Звезд/подразделение падающих звезд] is a now-defunct arm of the government of the USSR [Union of Soviet Socialist Republics] of Layer-Beta. It operated wholly separate from the rest of the government, acquiring funding through secret transfers from the Treasury, weapons and soldiers from the military through so-called ‘night shift’ transfers, and materials through dummy companies and under-the-table deals with other countries. Little is known about the Division, as they became defunct as of the fall of the USSR, and with no successors, their facilities were abandoned, their documents lost, shredded, or incinerated, and their work hidden.
The following is a list of known Division sites, facilities, offices, and places of activity:
- Site-Nu, located in Siberia a few days on foot north of Lake Baikal. Nu appeared to be designed for the containment of and experimentation upon ENTITIES of great power. It was destroyed by the actions of at least three ENTITIES taken by the Division from Greece; registered as [Blowtorch], [Winder], and [Fumes]. Site-Nu has since been taken over by the Chatter & Melody Society as a place of interest and outpost.
- Site-Upsilon, located in Siberia one week on foot west of Site-Nu. It was abandoned some time before 2003, the year when the Society discovered its existence. Upsilon appears to have been a mostly storage-focused facility, with three warehouses on-site and an extensive archive, all of which were mostly destroyed in a fire some time before its discovery. Site-Upsilon has been taken over by the Chatter & Melody Society as a place of interest.
- Building-Tau, located in the city of ████████, Mongolia. It is the largest Division-affiliated location outside of Russia controlled by the Society. Tau seems to have been an administrative location, with evidence of computers, ledgers, and office space being present. It was captured mostly intact by a Standard Bearer-lead Armed Company from Station Tokyo in 1992; it appears that the Division was still active after its official dissolution, but to what extent is unknown. The documents theorized to be most sensitive that were recovered from Tau appear to have been put through a cipher similar to Enigma, possibly paranaturally. The cipher has yet to be cracked.
- Zone-Lambda, located under the Bering Sea within the national waters of the Canadian province of Alaska. Lambda encompasses the whole of the so-called ‘██████████ Graveyard’; a ██-acre section of sea floor containing at least ██ sunken vessels, twelve of which are confirmed to be USSR navy ships and submarines, fifteen US navy ships and submarines, nine Canadian navy ships, and three Japanese navy ships. It is an extremely supernaturally unstable area, as it is home to five Legion-class leviathans, three confirmed Typhoon-class sea serpents, and a mating pair of ██████-class ████████. Lambda is neutral territory jointly protected and hidden by the Chatter & Melody Society, the International Paranatural Council of Nations (IPCN), and the Inter-Culture League of Supernatural Beings (ICLSB).
