Puppet Drones

Drones have long been a part of Fleet technology and are common on many worlds for many purposes. Though automation takes up a majority of dangerous labor, drone labor has made dangerous tasks safely interactive. Drone technology has become sophisticated enough for neural interfaces to provide users direct control.   Puppet drones are the size of an average human; with blank, featureless bodies that resemble an artist's figure drawing model. Connected to a neural interface, a user can operate a puppet drone to move and interact as a human would. Mass production of puppet drones has greatly expanded Fleet operations into dangerous sectors, and medical models have given physically disabled people and non-humanoid species a new ability to interact with society as a whole.

Utility

There are several different variations of Puppet Drones on the market.
  • Military: Military drones are produced by the Fleet for their own purposes; often as infantry and shock troops in armed conflicts, Military Grade puppet drones have more durable frames and can have weaponry and advanced targeting systems. They can vary in size; larger models are often used for ground troops; smaller models are used for stealth and sniper operations. Puppet Drones can often be used for dangerous operations with explosives.
  • Technical: Technical models are used for space walks, and exploration in low-oxygen environments. They are also often used for exploration, or interacting with volatile materials.
  • Industrial: Industrial models are used for deep space mining or working under extremely dangerous production conditions.
  • Medical: Medical drones have a variety of uses. Puppet drones have taken over surgery theaters as they are easier to sterilise. They also help with quarantine situations, and interacting with dangerous patients. Many people with physical disabilities find using a puppet drone can help them to live more independently.
  • Performance: Performance drones are used in the entertainment industry, to perform dangerous stunts, or to recreate performances deceased performers made iconic.
  • Commercial: Commercial drones have a variety of uses, including personal entertainment, home maintenance and repair, or telecommuting.
  • Access & Availability
Puppet drones are complex machines due to their neural interfacing and are often only available to large institutions who can afford their maintenance and upkeep, or wealthy private consumers who can afford their costs.
    Complexity
Puppet drones are highly complex machines due to their neural interfaces. Baseline commercial models are made of titanium with no additional features.   Some available additional features include:
  • Image Projectors: Common in commercial and performance models, Puppet Drones have image projectors that can make them look like their puppeteer or any chosen image.
  • Armor Plating: For increased durability
  • Advanced Sensory Modules: For improved perception
  • Weapon Modifications: For military purposes
  • Surgical Modifications: For medical purposes
