Guest and Crew Cabins

The Comet was once a jewel among the stars - the finest space travel available. As a luxury cruiser, it was the hottest way to travel, and was priced accordingly.   Now, the Comet does respectable business (at least enough to keep it running), but doesn't draw the same crowds it had before. The existing crew quarters have been largely abandoned for more comfortable rooms for those who can afford it, and the current crew have taken over some of the less used suites, customizing them to their tastes.   But there is still plenty of room for guests and staff on the ship, and still plenty of luxury, though faded and reminiscent of years gone by. The Comet is no longer the hottest ticket in the galaxy, but she's a stately grande dame in her own right.

Purpose / Function

There are several different types of cabins available on the Comet. Though in her days as a Fleet Captain she kept strict order according to Fleet Standards, she allows Sleek to handle the accommodations for the Crew. Long term residents of the Comet who cannot afford to pay for singular accommodations can reside for free in the old crew quarters, living in the cramped bunks and eating in the crew mess. This is fine enough for short term crew who are paying for their journey in work on the ship, and the occasional indigent passenger who has been exiled or rescued.   Even the smallest interior stateroom is a step up from the crew quarters, and many long-term crew have upgraded from the crew quarters to more permanent residency in one of the staterooms or suites. The majority of the finer suites and the exterior staterooms are reserved for guests; but if a room is decommissioned (for repairs, or technical issues, or full service cleaning) for guest use it is put up to auction for the crew. The crewmember is then responsible for repairs and remodelling of the room. After a crewmember leaves the ship, if the room is sufficiently restored it can be auctioned back to the rest of the crew; or if Sleek deems the cabin sufficiently upgraded it can return to circulation as a guest cabin.   The guest cabins follow a very standard floorplan with few modifications for the different types.   Staterooms
  • Interior Staterooms - Small cabins for 1-4 people. Includes a bathroom and a viewscreen that can show views of the outside of the ship.
  • Exterior Staterooms - Small cabins for 1-4 people. Includes a shower cabin and a viewport to show the exterior views from the ship.
  • Grand Staterooms - Grand staterooms can be both interior and exterior. They have a small receiving area with a sofa, a bathroom, and an enclosed balcony with views of either the exterior of the ship or the interior of the ship.
  • Suites
  • Junior Suites: Junior suites are quite a bit larger than the state rooms, and come with a private bedroom, a sitting room, a bathroom with a bathtub, and an enclosed balcony with a view.
  • Officer Suites: Come with two rooms with a shared bathroom, a private dining area and sitting room, and an enclosed balcony with a view.
  • Executive Suites: Executive suites have two rooms with their own private bathrooms, separate dining and sitting areas, and an enclosed balcony with a view.
  • Royalty Suites: Royalty Suites are dome habitats on the surface of the ship. A dozen of them line the uppermost levels of the ship and originally contained unique environments. Currently they are all set to default configurations - a two-story house in a small, neatly manicured garden, which is easier to maintain for the crew; but these domes can be reconfigured as needed.
  • Alterations

Cabins can be reconfigured for aquatic species, or species with different needs than human standard such as low or no oxygen environments, extreme temperatures, or gravity variations. There is a special deck of cabins reserved for passengers who have unique needs. At least one crewmember maintains a permanent residency among the aquatic quarters.
