Vampirism can be transmitted only trough the injection of the saliva or the mucus of an infected being, in the blood of the target. This occurs naturally through the bites of an infected person on the last stage of this condition.

Cause

To all five of the sentient races, the origin of this tremendous disease is still unknown.

When a healthy individual is bitten by an infected one, the sequent symptoms occurs in this order: Rash and Puffed Veins on the wounded part; Repellence and Discomfort after the exposure of sunlight and pale skin; Puffed Veins all over the body plus Black Skin Spots on joints; Hunger and Desire for blood of every kind, sentients included; Red Eyes and Purple Eye Bags; Hair Losses and Teeth Deformation; Memory Losses and Madness; Total Vulnerability to the sunlight; Eyes Shrinking, the Nose and the Ears falls of the Head; Complete Loss of Memory, Pale White Smooth Skin and Aggressiveness.  
  • An affected individual can take days or even weeks to develop vampirism on the last stage. This may depend by the constitution of the person as long as the quantity of infectious saliva injected into his body.
  • Trattamento

    There are a few Treatments Known by Mages, Druids, and Surgeons that can retard or eliminate the effect of the disease, if cured on time. This include, the consumption of Cave Carrot that retards Memory Losses and Madness. Honey of the Mountain Healer Flower that can retard all the effects of the disease. Anti-Vampirism Elisir, made by Alchemists with the rarest ingredients it can completely cure vampirism before the total hair losses. And Other Cures listed in healer's books or kept as secrets by druids.

    After the manifestation of all symptoms the infected person can no long expose itself to sunlight or sources of high temperature and light. If a Vampire get exposed by the sun, it covers its eyes whit hands to avoid confusion and pain, while its skin starts burning. Vampires will also avoid onions, garlic ( due to the repellent odor ) and the lymph of the Salvific Ash Tree ( due to the venomous side effects ).

    Many precaution can prevent vampirism, but the best one remains not getting bitten by a vampire.

    Epidemiologia

    A Vampirism infection get often confined in a cave or more in general in the underground, due to the sunlight effects on the infects. To nowadays infected groups are distributed in the undergrounds of the Known World, and they represent a major danger for adventurers.

    Storia

    Vampirism is known from before the age of myths. No one still knows the origin of this disease, but most scholars think that is probably the result of an evil necromancy experiment. One Known Legend regarding Vampirism is handed down orally for centuries by the Human of the Vhudkhund. In its many confused ways it tells about a ferocious outbreak in the now called Land of the Giants, where an important settlement of the Drows from Svartal was located. The Outbreak was devastating and after the camp was doomed the Vampires left, hiding for days in the northern snowy woods. From that point not a Svartalian has ever returned there or anywhere near. Then during the dark days of the winter, many vampires abandoned the woods to feed themselves, first on human's animals, then just on Humans. For many years humans had to learn how to oppose them, confining their population in the woods where they came from. This routine lasted Century Until a Drow Necromancer, managed to control the vampires, starting the Great War of The North, the most known Human Legend after Odjen's War.

    All sentient races consider vampirism as one of the worst possible disease a person can get. When a person get infected, it is often killed and burned or burned alive by the sane villagers. This created a sense of paranoia in infected people the tend to hide their condition hoping for a miracle that will cure it. Nekos defines Ghouls as vampires at the last stage.
