The Copper Spoons
The Pirates of the Copper Spoon were born around 15 years old due to an act of kindness from their leader Marcel Vanguard. Two young tiefling siblings, Lerissa and Harkness, stowed away in the back of the Harlot's Daughter (a pirate ship) to escape a group of thugs abusing them. Kraften Hackerd, the captain of the Harlot's Daughter found the stowaways on his ship and was going to kill them for trespassing on his ship. Vanguard, a pirate mercenary, objected to his captain's attitude and said that if Kraften harmed those children he would kill him and anyone else who attempted to do so. Despite having almost 25 other crewmates against just him, he chopped them all down for those kids. The only remaining member of the crew was a woman named Del, as she was one of the few who knew of Vanguard's strength and wasn't fully loyal to Hackerd's kill-first-ask-questions-later attitude.
Now with only Vanguard, Del and the two tiefling kids they began anew with a new name and a new captain: Captain Marcel Vanguard, leader of the Copper Spoons. As they travelled they picked up misfits and outcasts from the port towns and cities they travelled to. Marcel was very much against Elven people and wasn't particular fond of most human, the two races that had discarded him since birth so it was usual for the humans that would join would end up at the bottom of the seafloor after one minor mistake.
Over the years, the numbers of the Copper Spoons began increasing and there were 9 close knit members of the Pirate Gang. As their size increased the infamous callings of the Scourge of the Seas became often whispers in the port towns when the Harlot's Daughter arrives. While this gave the Copper Spoons a fearful aura around the ports towns and cities, it also built up a big bounty on their heads. While they avoided bounty hunters and local law enforcement for a long time, and had fun doing it, all that came to an abrupt end when the infamous pirate hunter, "Scurvy". She tracked down the crew and made an attempt at all their lives, Vanguard in a brave act separate himself from the rest of the crew to initiate one-on-one duel. In the following weeks rumours of Marcell's hanging in a nearby port town and the crew were devastated.
Long ago, Vanguard named Lerissa as his firstmate and so after Vanguard's death she was the new captain of a shipless pirate crew. Her executive decision was for them all to scatter, lie low for a while and, eventually, reclaim their name as the Pirates of the Copper Spoons.
