Tabbu

The mystic lands of Taboo are badlands, a desert wasteland with very little to offer. Much of the land is covered in swirling sandstorms most of the time obscuring the view of most of the land from the ground. There are many plateaus and spires that are safe from the storms and terrible beasts roaming the lands.

Localized Phenomena

Rijamahl. The great pours of dust and sand that get kicked up and rush through Taboo come in frequently and with tremendous power. An infamous one known as the 'Flash of Despair' had so much power to it that while a group of six adventurers were crossing through Tabbu, the sheer force of the hot sand that blasted into them was able to reduce them to skeletons by the time the Rijamahl had tempered.   Erupting Spires. Occasionally, minor tremors shake through the wastes as a large spire of rock bursts through the ground. These are reminders of the awful atrocities that were committed on this once beautiful land, some settlers on the outskirts of Tabbu say that the spires represent the souls of soldiers that are trapped to wander through a land they destoryed.

History

During the Raptures, this area was a heavily contested battleground in a lush field and rolling hills. Many drow forces fought here and the battles commenced frequently, leaving casualties in the thousands each and every time. The years of corpses piling up and the abuse of magic flying across the fields eventually wore down the nature in the area.   Less than halfway through the war, the damage was already clear to see: the once beautiful green grass had cracked dirt and stone, tainted with festering magic twisted to kill and blood soaked into the ground of men whose last wishes were to kill. Eventually, the twisted magic that had been absorbed into the land began effecting the environment majorly. First came the tall, protruding spires of earth that randomly jut from the ground occasionally crashing backdown.    In the closing moments of the war, many drow failed to flee from the lands due to the natural lands shifts making it much harder to traverse. So, they escaped into the caves of the canyons - establishing cities deep underground, eventually connecting to other points of what became the Underdark.   By the time the Raptures had become a bad dream that land was inhabitable, but the war was still etched into the history of the stones that hadn't been there before it'd begun. Those luscious, rolling hills had become grand plateaus that left canyons around where fields once where. Ruins of civilisations had become nests of foul monstrosities mutated corrupted arcanum.

Prison Plateaus

The tall, hard-to-get-to plateaus in Tabbu have become ample spots to dump prisoners for Symarrean forces. These plateaus are the best place to keep inmates who will serve a long sentence and are not likely to make it through that sentence. The brilliant nature of these plateaus is that difficultly of escaping is not just reaching the bottom of the extreme cliffs but also surviving the treacherous wasteland that stands before an escaped convict.
