Kilgus Hanes

Grand Sorcerer of Catun Kilgus Morgan Hanes

Kilgus Hanes is to put it very bluntly an ecentric man completely and utterly unlike his kin. His legacy long since passed down from generation to generation has been cast aside and he instead wastes his days away on his own ambition and frivolous pursuits. He is a skilled mage often caught up in his own mind and experiments. He is a particularly skilled constructor of golems and summoner of elementals.   Our wayward adventurers first met the man stuck in a loathsome and forsaken tree. Whether a true accident or not Mr. Hanes had failed in his experimental teleportation spell and landed himself in the highest branches of a lone pine tree. This should have been the first sign of his ineptitude in the task but that did not stop our friends in the Infernus Order. A tragic and lamentable mistake to trust such a man with the task of getting you to the capital, perhaps it would have been easier to take a carriage. Battlefields do make awful landings.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Kilgus Hane is a thin man with a wild beard and even wilder hair. Though well into his age now he is a picture of health and continues to surprise people with his published adventures into a few of the elemental planes.

Identifying Characteristics

Mr. Hanes' most identifiable marking by far is the severe burn on the back of his hand. Rumors say it is from an accidental escapade into the elemental plane of fire, I can however almost certainly confirm that is not the case. Kilgus Hane is not a pile of smoking ash as is far more likely to have recieved such a minor wound from a poorly aimed fireball.

Special abilities

Mr. Hanes like all his ancestors is a master of fire magics and is quite specialized in all forms of summoning magic.

Apparel & Accessories

Mr. Hanes does adore his bright and flamboiyant colors, choosing to adorn the most ridiculously colored robes of holly red, tree frog green, and even lemon yellow. A truly horrid taste in fashion.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Kilgus Hanes was the first born son of the Hanes family, his parents Martha and Ronald Hanes would go on to have 3 more daughters. Mr. Hanes was always a solitary and peculiar man. Wishing to study his magic and interest in private far from prying eyes and helpful peers. In his early adulthood he became the patriarch of the family after his father's death, this was a responsibility he shunned. His family's reputation and standing in Catun degraded under his watchful gaze all the while his family home turned into a research lab filled with noxious smokes and strange sounds.

Education

There are few independent mages in Eredhen not tied to the church, the Hanes family among them. Mr. Hanes' magical knowledge may perhaps be one of the most complete and secularized in the kingdom.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Mr. Hanes has been known for several break throughs within the theory of magical summoning. His work with elementals is well published and even within the core curriculum of many newer magical teachers lessons on magical summoning.

Failures & Embarrassments

Mr. Hanes is probably and most unfortunately known for his complete disconnection from the nobility of his family name. He is often seen as a laughing stock in Catun.

Social

Religious Views

Mr. Hanes is an adamant advocate for the dissolution of the official church believing it to be a farce grouping meant to belittle and trod on the common man.

Wealth & Financial state

Kilgus Hanes remains one of the most wealthy men in Catun even if he chooses to squander a vast amount of his family fortune each year on ridiculous ventures and poor investments.

It is believed by many, myself included, that Mr. Hanes is not only a fluent speaker of common but also the elemental tongues and infernal.
The Hanes family house is located on the 14th floor of Catun and is one of the few floors to sport its own private elevator. Having traveled on it a great many times during my discussions with Mr. Hanes' wonderful servant I can say with utmost certainty: I would rather fill my pockets with rocks and jump into a lake than ride that rickety elevator again.   Mr. Hanes' servant is a wonderfully kind and surprisingly talkative Homunculi. A Homunculi for those who may not know is a form a wizarding servant formed from clay and ash and given life. They are usually quite silent and fiercely loyal as was Mr. Hanes' which I have come to call Bob much to his displeasure. He was an invaluable source while investigating the footsteps of the Infernus Order and was found to have a very exploitable love of small pastries and biscuits.
