Master of Waterhill Bes Kytt (a.k.a. Ruber)

Personal history

As a young mage, Bes Kytt was sent to study at the local mage college. He quickly found a passion for protective magic, and made a living out of selling protection services. During his youth, he got to know of the mysterious Doctor Simon Montgomery, who was known to have set off to the wild West marches.   Bes Kytt set off to the west and arrived in Niska after weeks of traveling. Like other adventurers, he sought work, but ended up in bad company and got caught up in a criminal act in Niska. Bes Kytt fled the city with the human ranger Gaius Lynch and they established themselves in an old bandit cave which the two set to fortify. Not long after the cave was fortified, Bes Kytt set out to the nearest village to do farm work. He did this to search out someone capable to farm the lands surrounding the fortified cave which he had named Waterhill. Bes Kytt found the young farmer Redear which he convinced to come with him back to Waterhill. Redear were given gold for tools and supplies and started working the lands with Bes Kytt.   After some time, Bes Kytt returned to Niska to earn new coin to supply the farm. He took up work with Iden Amakiir, Balaver Songsteel, Behrtuld Ealdwic and Lucien Graft. After braving a goblin lair to rescue a stolen creature, facing numerous goblins, Bes were given little to no payment and felt swindled whereas he would later learn that Balaver had earned the position of steward in Niska. Once again Bes Kytt, gathered what little supplies he had gotten and returned to Waterhill seeking new ways to take what he felt he was owed. After helping Redear in finishing setting up the Waterhill farmlands, Bes returned to Niska in order to earn more coin.   In Niska, Bes Kytt found Balaver, Iden and Bertuld in the tavern, Bes took a note from from the bounty board calling for help in the silver mines of Denton and convinced the group to help the mining settlement.The endeavor ended poorly. After killing monsters, the party stumbled upon some swirfneblin gnomes and even drow. Their presence indicated a further tunnel to the deep Underdark which the party considered to explore. Unfortunatly Balaver disrupted an idol of Lolth, causing more drow and a drider to set upon the group, nearly killing them all. Balaver found his end that day, but the party escaped with their lives. Upon returning to Niska, the party went their separate ways, leaving Bes once again with little to no coin. Desperate to complete his studies, he borrowed coin from Iden before returning to Waterhill.   Bes Kytt spent time fortifying Waterhill's inner walls, structures and laying the groundwork for buildings with his new companion Tharne working the fields. This went on for some time before Bes believed it was time to return to Niska for more coin, only to find the city in chaos as the Faith Militant had started their coup.   Tharne and Bes Kytt tried to do jobs in the chaos, but decided against it after a while and once more found themselves in service to Behrtuld which asked them to join him in a job. A job that took them through the Caultwald where Bes would meet someone who would change his life.
