The Ishim Sector

The Ishim Sector is a minor industrial sector within the Segmentum Pacificus. Especially blessed with rich mining and agri worlds,the principal planet of the sector is the Hiveworld of Ishim, a tributary forge supporting the nearby Forgeworld Hydraphur, one of the Imperium's last and finest shipbuilding worlds. Sitting on a number of stable warp routes, Ishim is a key movement and logistics hub for the region, collecting and distributing men and materiel according to the whims of the Lord Governor and His Blessed High Lords of Holy Terra.   The Ishim system has a long history of anti-Imperial separatism, stretching back to the Plague of Unbelief of the 36th millenium, the worst and most recent incident resulting in the Ishim Crusade by the Black Templars Astartes chapter in 945.M39. Since this time the planet has been closely supervised by both the Ecclesiarchy and the Mechanicum, who have come to a close working relationship on the planet. As the sector capital planet, it is a key logistic hub for metals, foodstuffs, and the processing of convicts, blasphmers, and heretics, who are lobotomised and processed before being sent on to Hydraphur or other forgeworlds for tasking as servitors.   When the Cicatrix Maledictum tore the Imperium in half, the planet Ishim tore in half too. As many loyal citizens flocked to the cathedrals and chapels of the Ecclesiarchy as did embrace the ruinous powers infesting the galaxy. The brutal holy war could easily have left the planet a useless wreck were it not for the presence of several maniples of Skitarii in orbit awaiting shipment to Mechanicum outposts. The frenzied masses were no match for the cold efficiency of the Mechanicus' steel grieved soldiers, and though the death toll was high, the planet was secured in the Omnissiah's Name.   In the immediate aftermath, Ishim became a hub of Imperial resistance in the darkness, as well as the target of several Chaos attacks, located as it was at the confluence of many warp passages across the region. Though The Ecclesiarchy has never had a tighter control on the planet, recidivism abounds hundreds of years since the pain of the Great Rift. Ishim's importance as a logistics hub continues, and it's support to Hydraphur is vital to the maintenance of Battlefleet Pacificus, making it a prime target for the many enemies of the Emperor.
