Familiar Rabies

One of the most feared diseases on the continent, Familiar Rabies is a virus spread across mammalian life in Alwaus. It is spread from saliva and most frequently transmitted from the bite of an infected creature or person. Left untreated, the disease will quickly begin causing severe inflammation of the brain and central nervous system. While there is a small window after exposure where treatment can be administered, often times a carrier will not know they have contracted the condition until the first symptoms begin to show. 
Early symptoms include slight fever and a tingling sensation in extremities, however, these symptoms quickly evolve into feelings of nausea, violent movements, uncontrollable emotions, localized paralysis, and confusion. The combination of severe confusion and uncontrolled emotions leads to violent and aggressive behaviors most commonly associated with Familiar Rabies. Those infected are often seen with foam forming at the corners of their mouths. Severe hydrophobia sets in in the later stages, but by then communication with the infected is virtually impossible and death follows shortly afterward.
Once symptoms begin to show there is little to be done for the victim besides keeping them contained and comfortable. There is no widely accepted cure for the condition, however, isolated reports have indicated various holistic medicines and apothecial solutions have been successful, however, replication of these treatments has not shown empirical success.
