Sant'utheer

The capital of The Immortal Kingdom, the glowing city of Sant'utheer.
Like a thousands of years old sapling, or perhaps a child, Sant'utheer, Telsaan's city, has flourished under his care since its founding. His influence can be seen everywhere in its style and architecture and his name blows like the wind through its streets. Commerce runs like blood to and from the capital like a heart. Its level of craftsmanship can only be matched by Vinischram, but the capital contains much that the artisan city doesn't. The continent's most expansive libraries with the most exclusive tomes, the finest in dining and fashion that always sets trends. Those who don't live in Sant'utheer dream of doing so, and those who do rarely leave.   The circular city contains ten distinct sections formed of a northern, eastern, southern and western section each divided in two by another concentric wall, with two inner sections at their centre. Each of these sections is presided over by an arm of the Vested - Sant'utheer's official guard. There are ten arms in total, with with the foremost presiding over the two central rings. At the centre of the city sits the Immaculate Palace - home of the emissary of Telsaan. Made from diatite, the palace glows in the day light while at the same time reflecting generously onto the the capital as a whole. From the top of the palace a never-ending stream of gold light reaches into the clouds like a fishing line. The visible tether connecting Telsaan in his palace in the sky to his kingdom on earth - aptly named the Golden Line.
Spacious promenades and winding walkways sparkle like the buildings do, being bathed in the reflected light from the palace. Diatite can be found in much of the city's architecture and so to find a shadow in Sant'utheer you must go looking for one. The buildings themselves are of curious design - most have been standing for the thousands of years since Telsaan built the city. Experts propose that the city came into being at once, and now easily houses its many inhabitants despite the relatively sparse population at the time of its creation. And despite its vast industry and many dwellers, wildlife flourishes within its walls. Within each of Sant'utheer's quadrants is a designated farming area, manned mostly by those who have come from outside the wall with rural backgrounds or their descendants. The crops are particular to the city of Sant'utheer for their requirement of sunlight which only the capital with its diatite architecture, namely in the great Immaculate Palace, can provide. Fauna roams freely outside the predominantly settled areas, but it is common to see deer, rabbits and other 'safe' animals on any given market street or promenade.
While the city itself is a sight to behold from near and afar, tourists often visit for particular landmarks. The Golden Line is said to be best seen from as close to the palace as possible, and so a designated square a short distance from the palace steps is opened and frequented by both visitors and locals for an hour each night. Seekers of knowledge will often find their ways to the Burned Library and discover it appropriately named. The smell of char and smoke still wander its halls like a nosy guest as a remnant of burnt tomes and scrolls from what was once Sant'utheer's foremost and largest library and gallery. The surviving knowledge was transplanted into this unused home and took on new life as volunteers poured in through its doors, safeguarding what knowledge might once again be easily lost. The capital also contains the continent's most prestigious schools and harbours the most highly regarded teachers and instructors in craftsmanship, cuisine, martial artistry and warfare. Whatever you wish to learn, can be learned in Sant'utheer.
The name of the Vested used to come with both fear and honour in equal measure. In more recent years recruitment for the city guard has seemingly taken a more meritocratic approach. Where the Vested were once considered synonymous with law in its more ideological sense, the infusion of ambitious or unruly members who have joined by strength of arm alone has humanised them. Opinion of the force has changed, with some of the populace finding a more liberal, 'human' approach to law keeping, when it is kept, more to their liking whereas others protest for a return to a stricter, more uniform enforcement of the law. The emissary and the Spears have had less involvement with inter-district politics in recent times, and so the Vested of each district more or less runs itself.
