Maras-Chaloo

A number of towns and villages were fallen back to after the Cry, Maras-Chaloo being one of them. It has several of the @Captains in residence and a moderate remaining portion of The Immortal Kingdom's army.   It is a humble town with about 800 residents. Not being as industrious as Vinischram two days' ride north, or the capital several weeks to the west, it maintains itself without much interference. Most of the men are farmers of unremarkable crop or hunters taking advantage of Hedge Forest to the south. The women of the town tend to be housewives or farmers, having to juggle daily tasks with rambunctious children either way. Many of its inhabitants have relatives immediate or otherwise living in the more industrial settlements. Many in Maras-Chaloo feel downtrodden and hopeless, their duty to their family or to the town itself pinning them to the town like its foundations, unable to move and unwilling to even if they could.   Many travellers on their way to Vinischram to the north ride past the town. Lodgers tend to be part of the unwilling few or those who have no choice. Regardless, trouble finds its way to Maras-Chaloo's doorsteps on occasion. When it does, its no-nonsense keeper Telly Troster handles things her way. While few good things can be said about the town, she ensures nothing bad can be said of it either.
