Venus
Watch Your Back...
Venus, once an inhospitable and outright deadly planet is now seen as a one of the biggest displays of human ingenuity. Over the course of the course of approximately three centuries humanity was finally able to turn Venus into a verdant paradise, Earth 2.0 as many would refer to it for a further 50 years after the initial ground colonisation.
Utilising a vast network of atmospheric scrubbers to remove the deadly levels of carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide in the atmosphere, followed bu the strategic redirection of hundreds of large ice comets into the atmosphere humanity was able to introduce both liquid water and oxygen into the atmosphere. Over the course of three centuries they were slowly able to reduce the intense atmospheric pressure and scrub the atmosphere to make the ground habitable.
Geography
Comprised primarily of a single Pangea-like continent spanning most of the equator, Venus is host to an incredibly diverse landscape. Ranging from rocky mountains to rolling foothills, vast rivers and lakes and a vast tundra situated at either pole.
Fauna & Flora
Flora:
Much of the flora on the central continent is comprised of either introduced species or bio-engineered variants of existing species from Earth. It's also home to a number of species that became extinct due to overharvesting on Earth or could simply no longer survive due to certain atmospheric changes over the centuries.
Fauna:
Again, much of the fauna is introduced from existing or cloned Earth species. Over the last few centuries the introduced species have been observed developing Venus specific genetic variants.
Natural Resources
Venus is home to an incredibly diverse ecosystem, ranging from sparse pine forests to dense, humid jungles providing plenty of sustainable lumber. Below the surface, the composition is much the same as Earth with deposits of coal, iron, silver and other common metals being abundant.
