The Emerald Sea

The Verdant Depths
"The wind, it snaked through the densely packed woods like the howl of a northern barbarian only much more chilling. The mighty rustling of leaves and the swaying of branches as the sun fought for entry into the fortified canopy. One could say the Emerald Sea earned its namesake, for the lowly fool that steps into it's verdant depths would quickly and suddenly feel the same panic and fear as if drowning in the Ivory Depths. The sunlight dancing between the gaps in the leaves like the light you see as you sink quickly below the lapping waves. But what makes it truly an ocean in more than name is the hungry monstrous predators that sleep within its darkest corners and I mean not the ferocious wolf nor the desperate bandit, no, darker... deeper there lies something chaotic an ancient and evil force. The children of the Idiot god himself."
—Mikaha Wulfhow, Ogre Adventuerer
A large and imposing forest the Emerald Sea has been the grave of many would be adventurers and travelers. Ancient things foul and forgotten hide within its lush treetops. So those who wish to see the sun again best save up the coin to pay the Irons fee.

Geography

How Deep Does it Go?

If given a bird's eye view one could look upon the dense majesty of the Emerald Sea and see that it indeed stretches on for what could seem like an eternity to the simple-minded. This forest is not as simple as one would think, for it is not the miles of visible greenery that should worry the would be traveler but the depths below. The Emerald Sea is not just some fanciful name given by a waxing poet beneath the thick canopy is an even more robust subterranean forest filled to the brim with both flora and fauna of varying dangers.

Fauna & Flora

All manner of plant and beast reside inside the Emerald Sea, most the common variety but more recently travelers have reported seeing strange mutated doe stroll out of the treeline or watched a grouping of vines pull some squealing prey deeper into the forest...
