Magitech

"We don't know how any of it really works. but we know what some of it does, and mostly we don't even know that." -Klara, Scholar of Artifice

Magitech is the sorcerous combination of magic and technology to create wonderous items. The Ancients were the only civilization known to have unlocked the secrets of its creation. As such, most Magitech is unfathomably old, gathering dust in moldy ruins for eons before being discoved by some enterprizing adventurer.

One of the most defining features of Magitech is it not subject to the random fluctuations charactaristic of The Weird and is belived to either pre-date its creation or function on a completely diffierent wavelength. Magitech even functions in areas where Dampening has smothered other kinds of magic. Being absent the wild inconsistency of normal magic, much of the value of Magitech is its reliability.

The other major draw of Magitech is the same as nearly all technology, ease of use. A wizened spellcaster may study for half a lifetime in order to master a few simple tricks. They may have spend countless sleepless nights of arcane reserch and focused practice just to master the ability to create a small glow of light in their palms. In contrast, anyone with a Magitech lantern can produce the same effect, rpovided they know how to work the object.

Most Magitech requires proper imput to activate, usually in the form of Glyphs though voice-commanded innitiation sequences have been hypothosized. Some rare device requires additional imput, such as one of the tiny metal chips that are believed to have been the currency of the ancients or standardized crystal rods that fuel an object like wood for a fire.
