Born within the Outer City of Baldur's Gate, Carrion was born a simple commoner to a half-elven mother and human father hailing from the far lands of Damara. Right from the start, the baby tiefling faced a tough future, with his mother Lerali working long days in a nearby pub and his father Vidil taking all kinds of odd jobs, there was little time for the couple to look after their young child. Not that it had been made any easier years later, with urchins deeming the then named Ebrias a perfect target for teasing and bullying.
Little did the pale red-spotted child know, that his life was to take a turn for the unexpected when during a Flaming Fist raid on suspicions of kidnapping a noble boy, his father was cut down and left to die in the wake of this event. Upon sighting his dying father in a pool of his own blood, Ebrias froze and blacked out, having no memory of what transpired afterwards until he woke up the following day, with Vidil alive and well yet shaken up. Obviously, in his mind it must've been a horrible nightmare. In truth.. Over the course of his blackout, the young boy had manifested strange powers; bringing his father back from the brink of death as he was crying over the dying man's body.
Slowly, folk started to come around and pay lengthy visits to his small home. Why, Ebrias had no knowledge of, until a triadic cleric, alleggedly sent by Ilmater himself, revealed that he possessed a form of divine magic. This devilish, persecuted, and sometimes downright hated child, held the natural abilities to heal others. Raised by the city as he was, Ebrias was initially skeptical about this claim, but proven wrong when he actually made a conscious attempt some time later.
More folk started coming around after this, rumours obviously having spread among the commonfolk. And with increased attention, both Lerali and Vidil begun to shelter Ebrias from the outer world, be it ether through selfishness or a parental sense of wanting to protect their child. It wouldn't be long until this miracle boy eventually became uplifted as a divine visage. "Sar'el, the Lord of Health" was on people's lips, eventually provoking the Flaming Fist into taking action against what in their mind was a potentially dangerous new cult.
Years later, Ebrias had found himself under this new persona of Sar'el, made to wear a mask enchanted with a spell to hide his true appearance, seemingly leading what's now grown into more of a cult known as "The Holy Gathering of Sar'el and his Grace". Yet the figurehead himself was.. Thinking. During all of these years, he's been held back from going out, experience life, grow as a person.. Then made to help others who don't even know the true person he was.
So, early in the morning, Ebrias set out to the streets.. It was time to prepare his journey to Elturel..
