Madge

Ms Madeleine Campbell

We must add that the celebrated traveller was accompanied by a servant named Madge. This faithful creature was not merely a servant, but a devoted and courageous friend, who lived only for her mistress.

    General Physical Condition

Madge is a tall, burly woman in her fourties. She has a round, chubby face covered in pale freckles, with deep-set eyes, a wide nose and a small mouth. She has curly copper hair of medium length, usually pulled back save for the fringe.   Madge's usual clothing is a green plaid travel dress, to protect from the extremeties of harsher climates, and a plain bonnet.

    Personal history

Madge's family have been servants of the Barnetts for generations now - she was simply continuing the family tradition. Not that she had much of a choice. But she was happy with her place in life, doing what she could do best, acting as a pillar for anyone in need to lean onto.   When Mr Barnett introduced his wife Paulina to the household, Madge knew she needed help. The young lady was not at all prepared to the busy life of a house mistress, her head still up in the clouds. Madge would teach Paulina the ways of housekeeping when she needed advice, and listen to her patiently when she needed someone to vent to. Madge knew little of the ways of mad science and supernatural locations, but knew that it's an important subject to her mistress.   As years went on, a strong sisterly bond formed between the two. They made quite the team - the impulsive, ecstatic Paulina and the calm and stoic Madge. They stood together through all hardships in life, and were each other's only consolation when Mr Barnett passed away.   But Madge knew Paulina wasn't just mourning for her husband. She was once again scared for her future, unsure what to do now that she's alone. But in reality, what was now stopping her from achieving her childhood dream?   And so Madge proposed for Paulina to start travelling. The idea was met wit much enthusiasm, and the two left England presently. Madge was so happy to see her mistress be so filled with joy. For her smile alone, she would follow her to the end of the world and back.   During one visit to England, Madge and Paulina found out that a new Society for Arcane Sciences has been founded in London. They paid the Society a visit and got themselves acquainted with the founders and the Lodgers - not that they needed an introduction, the tale the famous supernatural site explorer was well-known in rouge science circles.   Of course, Madge and Paulina weren't able to stay at the Society for too long - the road was calling. But they promised to bring back more valuable research next time they're in England.
