The Galactic Collective

500 years in the future, humanity is incorporated into a cosmopolitan galactic technocracy built on the dusty foundations of a lost civilization. These "Precursors" are an ancient race of aliens who disappeared under mysterious circumstances billions of years ago, and whose leftover technology is coveted by governments, religious cults, and criminal organizations alike.   While most galactic citizens pursue mundane occupations, there are those who seek these "relics," whether for fame, fortune, or the simple thrill of adventure. Persons in this line of work are known as "relic hunters" and find themselves in the most singularly dangerous and rewarding profession the galaxy has to offer.   Though the Milky Way galaxy is united under the benevolent leadership of the "Collective," there are those factions that seek to establish their own hegemony. These splinter groups may be as small as a fascist colony devoted to racial supremacy, or as massive and galaxy-spanning as a well-funded criminal network. Regardless of size or motivation, these warring factions have their sights on the the same goal: nothing short of total galactic power.
