The Dragon Throne

The Dragon Throne sits at the heart of the Elorian Empire, and from its back the heads of that Empire rule.  (I haven't really settled on what form that government will take, so I won't touch on that here).  It takes the form of a full-to-life dragon, curled in classic sleeping-on-hoard pose.  The dragon appears to be made of solid gold, and is straight up massive, the peak of its spine is some 30 feet in the air at a minimum.  It dwarves even the largest other dragons in the empire by far.  Arranged around the "body" of this slumbering monstrosity are a series of thrones (probably 7, but I haven't quite decided yet).  Each throne belongs to a specific position within the highest ranks of the empire, with the top one being occupied by I suppose the Emperor.  It will sit on the spine of the great beast, right where its shoulders hump before sloping down its back.  The elevation of that seat is static.  While the dragon has never been SEEN to move by any in living memory however, it is well documented that the performance of those seated in various seats can cause their individual seats to be raised or lowered in comparison to the other based upon their actions.  How exactly this occurs is unknown, although there are many speculations.  Some seats, such as those positioned on the tail or the head, have a far greater variance than the others, meaning that the position assigned to said seats has the ability to rise to greater heights, but also to fall to far deeper lows.
The legends about the throne are far too many and diverse to list here.  Many of them describe it as some form of last guardian for the empire, whether it be a golem, animated construct, or even a true dragon, simply slumbering.  The rulers of the empire may know the truth of the matter, but if they do they have not shared it with anyone else.

Completely unknown.  If anyone has managed to decipher the secrets of the Throne, they did not survive to share their discoveries with anyone else.

The dragon itself appears to either be the body of a gold dragon, or perhaps some form of golden golem.  Each of the seats arrayed on it is decorated in a different manner, as befits the position of the one chosen to sit in it.
