Aukla Rhufbar

Princess Aukla Rhufbar

Aukla is the younger sister of Grainte (named for a bird common the The Corner), and is, like him, stuck on this impromptu field trip. I think I have settled on enough of a character sketch for her now.  This trip is going to be something so far outside of her comfort zone, in so many ways, that it really isn't something she could have even imagined beforehand.  Most would probably be crumbling under the pressure of such an abrupt and shocking change, but not her, oh no.  Aukla is a Rhufbar, and she is surrounded by the lowest laborers of the low, and she will not let them see her sweat.  In the privacy of her thoughts, and the cabin she shares with her brother?  Well sure, things can show a bit more there.  But in the public of the ship, she will remain the image of the unruffled, cool, and collected princess.
Now alienating the crew, that would be silly and immature in the extreme.  After all, they are quite literally the only thing standing between her and her brother and the cruel dangers of the Sea of Wrath.  And one thing she definitely learned in the palace was that, while she and her family are of course superior to the teeming masses that make up the rest of the population in every way, those inferiors often serve incredibly important roles, doing things that they, in their higher positions, have neither the time nor inclination to do.  It is always important to keep on the good side of such people.  The new boy however... he's not even a cabin boy.  He is even more of a stowaway than THEY are, not even a paying passenger, and he has zero ties with any of the crew.... surely nobody would mind if she took out a little bit of her stress on him, right?  After all, he doesn't contribute anything, so why bother trying to stay on HIS good side?  And if it wouldn't do to openly ridicule him constantly, well, the best jokes are those that can be made at another's expense, without them even knowing why you are laughing.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Like her brother, Aukla is a fine specimen of a teen.  Generally a bit taller and more fit than is commonly seen outside of the nobility of The Corner, she is not a giant or anything.  However the extra money that went into her raising can be seen in that she is fit and attractive, without any noticeable scars or other significant blemishes.  She is not nearly as active as her brother is, but still takes her exercise outside, and so does not have the pasty skin of a shut-in, although she does look quite pale in her current circumstances, surrounded as she by sailors, a budding soldier in her brother, and a farmer/general outdoorsman in ER.  Has nicer clothes than might be expected to be seen aboard such a vessel, but nothing too ostentatious or garish.  Stefano only let her bring one or two such outfits, and she knows that she will need them for times when she really needs to make an entrance, not for the everyday aboard the ship.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

She is intelligent, and a bit of a schemer.  Nothing terribly devious or sociopathic, but she ascribes to the belief that while it her brother's job to protect her from physical harm (until she finds a spouse that is) so too is it her responsibility to ensure that his rather more straightforward tendencies don't lead to his own harm or detriment, or that of the kingdom.  they are teenage siblings who have been told of their own importance since birth, so there is always going to be friction, disagreements, snits, and pranks, but on the whole the two tend to unite against outsiders, as the scions of a kingdom that has far dwindled and is barely holding on from a political standpoint would need.  This trip will be the first time most of the above has been to the test however, so how it all shakes out remains to be seen

Education

Like her brother, Aukla has been afforded an even more extensive education than the average child of nobility due to the presence of Stefano, who, despite his many faults, does seem to enjoy attempting to impart knowledge to the younger generations.  Unlike Grant however, her extra studies have focused on the intrigues and games of the court, and are starting to dip into the parts of history that are not commonly found in the history books: some of the more tawdry deals and backroom secrets that go on behind closed doors.  She has had an especial education on the affairs and workings of the great empires found elsewhere in The Funhouse, and how those might possibly affect The Corner and its small kingdoms.
