Social Structure
Lapine societal structure is built around family. Branches of the same family stick together in groups that they call burrows. An individual burrow may consist of several family units distantly related, unified by marriage, or occasionally having come together under stressful circumstances.
An individual Burrow usually settle within a physical burrow. These burrows consist of large tunnels leading to chambers that function as rooms. Entire Burrows will share cooking, dining and entertaining chambers while individual families usually have their own chambers for bedrooms and hygiene.
A Burrow of Lapine usually chooses among them a Burrowmaster who serves as the leader of the entire Burrow. The Burrowmaster is usually the oldest Lapine considered an adult, i.e. still with white fur, while grey elder Lapine are given a more peaceful life away from politics. The Burrowmaster makes decisions for the Burrow including when to re-settle or leave to trade.
During winter, many Lapine stay underground in their burrows. During Spring, many Lapine take up scavenging, gathering and trading, forming little caravans that roam the world.
