Kadesh III

A barren rock not worth naming orbiting its namesake, a late stage red giant star, Kadesh III provides just enough inconsistencies in regard to natural law to warrant a minor research outpost located on its surface.

Geography

The surface of Kadesh III consists of an expansive desert of a dark grey sand-like granular material, with the occasional barren mountain range, or massive ocean floors that have long since evaporated. The uniformity of the desert has sparked a minor interest in the bizarre planetary ecology that would naturally produce such a strangely consistent environment, especially given the ideal placement of Kadesh III in its star's habital zone for a semi-tropical biosphere.

Fauna & Flora

No native flora or fauna remain on Kadesh III, not even microbial life. All life on the planet can be located in the planet-side research outpost, Limbo, which consists of research staff and a maintenance crew.

Natural Resources

Kadesh appears to have no natural resources, or at least none worth the expenditure of start-up costs to begin a full planetary exploitation when there are many more easily tapped planets in the galaxy.

History

Based on a preliminary analysis of the granular material that makes up the planet-wide desert, Kadesh III once supported a full fledged jungle environment that was somehow rendered down into the current grey sand that covers the planet. Evidence of this past can be found in the trace amounts of sterilized DNA sequences that can be found in the sand particles and the fully breathable oxygen rich atmosphere that still remains on the planet. Speculation as to the cause of this planet-wide sterilization vary wildly from a compound reaction from the radiation produced by the star Kadesh when it aged into it's red giant phase causing a withering effect on the local biosphere, to Kadesh III being the site of an apocalyptic battle, to some alien species' failed attempt at terraforming the world for their own purposes.

Tourism

Practically none, mostly just visiting researchers or hauler crews requiring a mid-haul stop.
