The Fragments of Vaalana

The World Seed once breathed life everlasting into the realm of Vaalana, home to rolling places, ice-hewn mountains and a beautiful landscape veiling a deep, inseparable connection to magic. The geode was massive, easily the size of a prodigious city, whose crater half-buried in the earth the site of Vaalana's most celebrated monastery.   Once; then it shattered.   In an event known only as the Fragmentation, the World Seed collapsed inward, causing lands to break free and float upward in their entirety to form huge, continental like chunks orbited by smaller remnants.   For decades, life itself seemed to hang in the balance. Whole locuses of mana spun out from the shards of the ancient Seed, carrying with them distorted gravity and incoherent laws of nature. Vaalana, heels on its downfall, was in chaos.   But man kept holding on. Eventually, the status of the world began to stabilize, albeit in an image completely removed from that of the Worldly Era. New kingdoms and townships arose on these islands, eventually reaching parity with old technology and even surpassing it for Vaalana's people could make use of World Seed shards to power machinery only dreamt of.   The people of Vaalana, ingenuity-born to the last, have now developed incredible means of transportation by sprawling airships, paving the way for the birth not only the Fragmented Era but also the merciless, towering airborne empire of Kalcuma that rules over the Fragments with crystalline fist.
