Snowmantle

Established as a logging village it was eventually infiltrated and seized by the Zhentarims agents as a means to strengthen their economical hold over the surrounding region and simultaneously creating a secondary site to begin infiltrating Daggerfall before their successful occupation. After the collapse of the Daggerfall occupation, once the dust had settled, Daggerfall launched a short and successful military campaign to oust the Zhentarims from Snowmantle. Instead of returning sovereignty to the people, the leaders of Daggerfall opted to fold the town into its own nation under the guise of "rebuilding". This lead to some political and violent skirmishes breaking out in the following years. Daggerfall chose to respond by cracking down hard with a military force, suppressing the localinstating   suppressed and leaders in the pocket of the High Nobles of Daggerfall nation, when rich veins of coal and silver were discovered under Snowmantle and the Border Forest, Daggerfall had the means to restructure the town into that of a mining town, putting the people to work.   After several years of hard labour, increased taxation and environmental destruction an insurgent force began to develop. Seeking support for their cause, the rebel leaders began contacting the surrounding nations for military and economic support.   To give the leaders more time and to send a message to Daggerfall, the people of Snowmantle went on strike for several months. Violent suppression, assassination's and coercion were tactics dished out against the strikers.   Hillsfar to the south-east who were currently engaged in Yulesh in a proxy war with Zhentirim state were wary of Daggerfall's growing economical status in the region. Unable to openly move against both The Zhentarim and Daggerfall nation, the opted to fund the insurgence of Snowmantle to disrupt the domestic status of Daggerfall until they had dealt with the Zhentarims and use their relationship with Snowmantle to create allies in their inevitable war against Daggerfall.   Unexpectedly once the support had been secured the people of Snowmantle vanished into the Border Forest, completely abandoning the town. They now wait for the promised resources and have brokered a meeting with Daggerfall to discuss ways of finding peaceful resolution and delay action long enough until they have what they need for military action.   Historically the most predominate faith has been Mieliki, Goddess of Forest, it was outlawed during the Zhenterim occupation and culturally suppressed by the church of the morning lord after Daggerfall's 'restoration"   Culturally the people of Snowmantle are hospitable and value nurturing and protecting the environment and community. Their recent history has made them more closed off, fearful and suspicious.
