Bloodbath

"You cannot forge a good sword from bad steel."
~ Orcish proverb
'Bloodbath' is the name given to the blacksteel greatsword wielded by the half-orc barbarian, Zami. Forged in 3019 JR by Torbran Stonesplitter, a dwarven blacksmith in the city of Waterdeep, Bloodbath has proven a mighty weapon in the hands of anyone strong enough to lift its weight.   The sword, which stands 4 feet in length, is forged from a nigh impenetrable metal known as hel'Shazak in Orcish and 'blacksteel' in the common tongue. The metal in the sword was obtained by smelting a length of blacksteel chain in the fires of Torbran's forge, and reshaping it into a single, razor-sharp blade.   Embedded within the pommel of the sword is a valuable emerald from the lands around Ironmaster, a reclusive dwarven stronghold in the Far North. During his journey south from Icewind Dale, Zami was given the emerald by Gwert Brighthelm, a dwarven warrior, as a token of gratitude.   During the Massacre of the Sky Ponies in 3019 JR, Bloodbath took the lives of almost two dozen Uthgardt tribespeople, as its wielder, Zami, flew into an uncontrollable battle frenzy. It is recorded that one tribesman was bisected perfectly down the middle by the sword's fierce blade. The surviving members of the Sky Pony tribe refer to the sword by the Bothii word 'Ynnrenner' meaning 'black tooth', and consider it to be one of the five omens prophesised by Uthgar the Battle-Father.
