Ashwin Stormshield is a human cobbler who resides with his son, Edward Stormshield, in Waterdeep. Ashwin grew up in the city's lower wards, in the days before they were policed by the New Guard, and took over his father's shoeshop at the age of 21, following the death of his father, Edwin Stormshield.
At the age of 25, Ashwin met his wife, Erinn Stormshield (born Erinn Greatmane) and in 2998, the two were officially married in a ceremony conducted by the high priestess Myra Bitterblossom. In 3009, Erinn gave birth to their son, Edward, but soon after passed away after contracting Wight Plague.
In 3019, Ashwin enlisted the help of three adventurers in rescuing his son from a group of lizardfolk, who intended to eat the boy. The adventurers succeeded, being later dubbed the Heroes of Waterdeep, and were rewarded with an enchanted silver brooch that Ashwin had received from his father.
Ashwin and his son currently live in a small dwelling located off of Tin Street. They often frequent the Blazing Manticore Tavern, where Ashwin is sometimes referred to as the 'Grey Lion', a reference to his ancestors who used a lion as their house sigil.
