The Folde

A continent roughly the size of Europe, attached to the northern polar ice cap. It is separated into two parts with different climates by an enormous mountain range. The northern part, called the Northlands, is sub-arctic in nature; covered in snow for much of the year and barely hospitable. Much of it consists of wide-open steppes and hardy pine forests.   The southern part, called the Southlands, has a much more temperate climate. It is very green and contains many fertile areas that can support large urban centers. Much of the southern foothills of the Northwall Mountains, separating the two halves of the continent, are too rocky, hard or infertile for crops and are therefore sparsely populated in many places.   The Folde is dominated by the various races of Men, though multiple others reside in their shadow: short but hardy Mountain Men beneath the peaks, brutish Beastmen far away in the Frozen Wastes, and even the Fair Folk deep in the ancient woods, or Daemons as the Southlanders call them.
