Landmark (because names are, as stated before, hard)

The government building of the falling city was grand before the collapse, but now it's one of the few decorated buildings still standing.

Structure

The government building is a huge, grand structure. Built to show power and influence, it's one of the few truly spacious building left standing in the falling city. Its towering presence can be seen from almost anywhere in the city you have any sort of view. The facade is full of details, sculptures and other things to awe and impress. The leaders of the city are still all gathered in the halls, trying to manage the city's limited resources and other challenges.

History

The building was originally built a few hundred years ago, making it quite old. Since then it has been both expanded and gone through maintenance several times, leaving the building looking almost brand new outside of the architectural style. Rising 5 stories tall on a hill in the center of the city, it is built to be seen.

Use

The government building houses the governing body for the falling city. In the past, the lower floors were dedicated to running the city, while the higher floors were built for the counties ruler. Now, the lower floors have been converted into housing for the rulers. The upper floors are still used for the leaders to convene and discuss issues and try to find solutions. With the districts of the city being as distinct as countries, representatives from each part of the city are chosen to join the council. How these leaders are chosen differ from district to district, but generally, they are democratically chosen. Once in the council, each member has the same amount of voting power, no matter how big their district is.
