Shamans act as conduits for Voidborne entities that dwell near the boundaries of life and death. Unlike Envoys, who call upon divine gods, or mages who manipulate arcane forces, shamans engage with ancestral and animal spirits as well as fundamental natural forces. Through intense rituals called Ceremonies, Shamans alter their consciousness and self, entering into trance-like states that allow them to access Powers from Sources somewhere in the Beyond. These Sources are vast wellsprings of knowledge and power.

Ceremonies
Ceremonies are the means by which Shamans enter their trance-like states. Alignment Ceremonies can pertain to important stars, culturally significant locations or sources of magical power. Exhaustion ceremonies often involve entheogenic substances, pain rituals or rigorous dances. Fetish ceremonies involve artifice, writing or rituals of creation. Legerdemain involves feats of illusion, sleight of hand and other forms of trickery. Recital often involves costumes, oration and special performance.Choosing a ceremony
