The land of Ryggar is a mostly accounted by a stark and freezing mountain range that rises from the Starving Sea, north of Ythill. Legend has it that these mountains are the bony remains of the first sacrifice between men and gods, forming a bridge between the powerful elemental oppposites of the void. The ductile and strong iron found only in this region is called 'blood iron', sought throughout the Grand Accord for its purity and ideal composition. Much of Ryggar is encircled in deep fjords or sheer cliffs, with much of its farmable land having been lost to the floods during The Fall.
+ The Drahei
The sun is an uncommon sight during the long Ryggarian winter, and during this time, much of Ryggar's surface is traversed by the Drahei, subterranean Amathian tribes who journey to the surface to perform powerful rituals under the power of the shroud. The Drahei are thought to have once been affiliated with Rungnir The Shadow Walker. The Drahei within the bastion of Mux, a once-proud colony built amongst the ruins of the Shi'Xul, mostly operating small fishing villages or trade hubs. Some of their kind are rumored to have delved into the Archaea, forming uneasy alliances and even having children with the Dark Morikai. During the short summer months where the days are very long, the Dwereg of Athrak and the Men of Matar are free to trade between the west and eastern extremes of the island.
+ The Crossing
The lack of resources on Ryggar means such trade is of great importance to survival, with the Matar bringing food from more abundant seas east, and the Athrakians bringing weapons and metal from the rich western mines. An uneasy balance exists between Drahei, Athraki and Matarians, with the passing of trade caravans through the mountainspine taking place under the guidance of the High Witches who attempt to not disturb the ancient monsters who dwell there.
