Envoy

Overview

A person touched with a spark of greatness, the envoy is a leader and steerer of men.   CHOSEN / STALWART / SHADOW     Scion - rogue doer of divine will that embodies traits of a god   Envoy - selected by an institution to serve a god or thing   Penitant - cursed by a god / divine mission   [[f>image Envoy.png]]The Envoy is a shroud-sensitive person who has been chosen to carry a seal of a deity, court, cult, or other organization capable of calling on the power of ancient beings. Through a 'seal' bestowed to the Envoy, the Envoy acts as a mortal embodiment of a patron power, able to bestow power on others and perform feats of divine magic from a patron domain. Envoys were of great importance in the Eldriad, performing community services and tending to the needs of the public.

The Seal

The Envoy's seal can be a physical item such as a holy symbol, a tattoo, or even a physiological change brought on by arcane rituals such as an eye in the palm of the hand, common to envoys of Tel-Dhuma. When the Envoy's seal is a physical item, it can be confiscated from the Envoy or destroyed, but the Envoy is able to materialize his patron's seal with a night of uninterrupted meditation. Seals are difficult to destroy and are treated as eternium objects for determining their hardness and durability, but not other characteristics.

Specialized Magic

Since Envoys channel arcane energy from a greater source of power than themselves, they must abide by by the rules and conditions set out for them by their @Order. Each deity has their own rules and customs and their own ways of influencing the world. Some of these conditions are relatively benign such as always sleeping while facing eastward. Others are quite a bit more difficult to abide by, such as only casting spells with the 'cloud' spell modifier or making a human sacrifice every full moon.

Chosen Ones

There are some who follow a strange path, similar to that of a [[[Sorcerer]]]. The [[[Chosen]]] do not take on the Seal of an order or institution, manifesting their powers due to some sort of direct connection to the divine. In most places, Chosen are seen as dangerous renegades.

Fallen Envoys

It's possible for an Envoy to disavow or disgrace their patron by failing to follow the rites and rituals associated with their powers. This causes the Envoy to lose their powers completely. Such envoys become Fallen Envoys, often making pacts with forgotten deities or small cults to regain their abilities.

Class skills

Envoys have exactly the same Class Skills as the Mage. They may also use any trait or skill designed for Mages.
