The Paradox

The Paradox are constructs with no original creators. Hence their name. Little is known of this species except they are native to the plane of Torment and travel in massive spider like ships capable of firing powerful disintegrating rays. Due to the speed of these ships, scholars believe they may not even originally be from the Wuld, but rather invaders from the dark void that surrounds the Wuld in the plane of Torment.   Coming in a variety of sizes and shapes, it is speculated that the Paradox may take what they please from species they encounter, creating hybrids to fuel their warlike tendencies. Each form seems to have a specific task, and it is rare for any one individual to show any kind of personality.   Due to their Paradoxical nature, these creatures have no access to Source and instead rely purely on psionics and technology. Reality abhors these monstrosities and every attempt they make at harnessing source proves useless. Similarly, many Paradoxes are resistant to the effects of spells making them particularly deadly against mages.   Because of their inability to use magic, Paradox have yet to master the ability to travel between planes. Given how much superior their technology is compared to that of the Wuld this is likely why they have not dominated it yet.
Known Paradoxes include:
  • Greys: Small bipedal creatures with limited psionics, greys are often used for scouting.
  • Brutes: These large creatures make up the backbone of the Paradox army. They are often cybernetically enhanced.
  • Jumpers: Small cybernetic creatures with jetpacks, jumpers rain death on their foes from above.
  • Jaberwocks: the Paradox answer to dragons. These massive two headed monsters have a variety of breath weapons to devastate the opposition.
  • Oozemorph: A liquidous creature, the oozemorph has near perfect shapeshifting abilities. These are used for infiltration missions.
  • Flayers: The scientists of the Paradox, these tentacle faced creatures have overwhelming psionic powers they use to debilitate their foes.
  • Septentrions: The most powerful of the Paradox, these massive creatures are capable of destroying cities in a single day.
There are believed to be many more Paradoxes, but these are the most notable ones.
