War of the Broken

Before the War of the Broken, the Kingdom of Dreymore had many rules, regulations, and High rates of taxation. These regulations were meant to keep the peace and provide prosperity, welfare, and justice throughout the Kingdom. Some, however, viewed these regulations, and particularly the rates of taxation, as a means of control from a tyrannical, power hungry, greedy, monarch. These individuals stated that over taxation and regulations had broken them and use this as a moniker for their revolution.   The revolution took the Kingdom by surprise and the rebels had quickly seized control of all city's, towns, and villages in Dreymore, save one. Soon, they laid siege to the capital city of Faron and for the sake of his people, the King surrendered and paid for it with his life. Their leader, Lazar, placed himself on the Argent Throne and assumed control of the Kingdom. He stripped away nearly all regulations, and reduced taxes to the lowest levels Dreymore had ever known. Freedom was the catchword of the day, and, for a time, the people were content.   However, contentedness soon turned chaos. Since regulations on shipping, industry, and trade had been removed, rotten crops began to be sold, weights and measures began to be manipulated, and scams became prevalent. Social welfare was replaced by theft, robbery as a means for the poor to survive. The people began to believe that while taxation and regulations were a burden, they were better than the chaos they had unleashed.   Soon, a counter revolution arose to overthrow Lazar and his "broken" army. Rosia Redbrace quickly emerged as a leader of the reformed Argent Army and regained control of the kingdom. Lazar, his army a fraction of the size it had been at the first revolution, found himself greatly outnumbered at the second Battle of Faron. And while his son escaped with his life, Lazar found himself swinging from the gallows.   Rosia was quickly installed as the new monarch and Queen of all Dreymore. And as the taxation and regulations were reinstated, chaos gave way to peace and order.
