Pol of Karp Town
Pol is a young man from Karp Town and is a new recruit to the town guard alongside his friend Robin Blackwood.
Despite growing up with Robin, his childhood was much different to Robins. He grew up as an orphan working as farmhand in the farms outside of Karp Town. He is unable to read or write until he became a recruit for the guard and even now has very limited capabilities. Despite his lack of education, he is quick witted and often manages to outwit the other recruits.

Personal history
Pol was born in Karp town in the winter. His mother was notorious for being one of the few local whores in Karp town. She worked in a small brothel opposite the moorage at the rive Maeve. Pol grew up in the brothel with his mother, being brought up with the children of the other working women.
When he was six, his mother died of an illness. The illness was slow, she rapidly lost weight and had soaring fevers and profuse night sweats. Her face and body was covered in sores. Pol was not allowed in her room as the illness worsened.
After his mother's death Pol lived in the brothel with the other children, often on the streets committing petty theft. After a few years, a farmer from the farms to the east of the town came looking for boys to come work on his farm. Pol went with the farmer, working there till he was fifteen.
While working at the farm he and other boys on the farm woke to the farm being raided by bandits. They killed the farmer and his wife and burned what left of the farm to the ground. With nowhere to go a grief stricken Pol returned to the town but with no where to live. After days on the streets Jon Blackwood discovered the boy. Jon took the boy to the barracks and fed him. After hearing Pol's story, Jon offered Pol a place training to become a guard. Pol, motivated by the sacking of the farm, agreed.
Pol met Robin during the first few days of training and they quickly became inseperable friends.
